Raheem Sterling: Breakdown in relationship with Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers

Raheem Sterling missed Liverpool training for a second successive day on Thursday amid reports he will ignore club warnings he must go on tour.

Sterling missed training on Wednesday, citing illness, but he had a meeting with Brendan Rodgers at Melwood in which it's reported he told the Northern Irishman he did not want to play for him.

According to The Sun, Liverpool are 'adamant' that Sterling joins his team-mates on Sunday's flight' for the tour to Asia and Australia, but the Daily Mirror, whose reporters have regular contact with Sterling agent Aidy Ward, claim Sterling 'says he will not go on tour with Rodgers and maintains he no longer wants to play under the manager'.

They expect Sterling not to turn up to the airport on Sunday and happily take the £70,000 fine that would bring, a claim which was given further credence on Thursday when Sterling missed training for a second successive day.

Sterling reportedly woke up on Wednesday morning to more than 2000 abusive tweets and 1200 WhatsApp messages after his phone number was published online.

The England forward, according to the Daily Mirror, 'remains adamant he has kicked his last ball under Rodgers' leadership'.
