Heerenveen defender Kenny Otigba has revealed he turned down an offer from Liverpool in 2012.
Otigba, who was born in Nigeria but then moved to Hungary, decided to play in Holland to continue to learn his trade.
But the 21-year-old admits he would like to play in England in the future once he has further developed.
"My mom told me to go to Liverpool but my agent was more realistic. He said the Dutch school is better than the English," Otigba told Voetbal International.
"But English football has always been my dream."
Coached by legendary Dutch forward Marco van Basten at Heerenveen, he has become a first-team regular this season, featuring 11 times and scoring twice.
On an international level, Otigba refused to accept a call-up from the Hungarian Under-21 team on Wednesday by saying he wants to concentrate on club football. This news came as a shock in Hungary as he has already played several times for the Under-21 team this year.
But the defender also qualifies for Nigeria through his father and he has been observed by the Nigerian Football Federation in the past.
