Although Premier League results so far this weekend haven’t gone Liverpool’s way, they remain second in the Premier League.

However, with Arsenal now seven points clear at the top of the table and both Chelsea and Everton level on points with the Reds, a win on the East coast is even more important for Brendan Rodgers‘ men.

The opposition

After being promoted to the top flight by the second-place automatic spot in the Championship last season, Steve Bruce’s Hull find themselves 13th in the league table.

However, the Tigers are fresh off the back of defeat to the league’s bottom-placed side, Crystal Palace and before that, a humbling 4-1 defeat at Southampton.

Hull are without Paul McShane for the visit of the Reds, whilst Curt Davies will undergo a late fitness test after suffering from a shin injury.

Team news

Liverpool are without Daniel Sturridge, who it is reported could miss the next six weeks with ankle ligament damage.

Jose Enrique is also sidelined until February, with youngster Jon Flanagan expected to continue at left-back after solid performances against Everton and Arsenal last month.
