Liverpool are among the clubs interested in signing highly rated Argentina Under-20 international striker Luciano Vietto, according to the player’s agent.

Vietto is currently at Racing Club in his homeland, having scored 15 goals in his first 48 appearances.

He has won much praise in Argentina, and has won four caps for Argentina Under-20s, scoring twice.

Metro> ’s Jamie Sanderson says the 20-year-old has been compared to Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero.

“We know that many top clubs are following Vietto,” agent Jorge Cysterpiller is quoted as saying by Metro> .

“There is a lot of competition to sign him. Liverpool we know like him and so do Real Madrid – I think also two German teams.

“I think he could move at the end of the European season.”

With Liverpool unsure of the futures of both Iago Aspas and Fabio Borini, Brendan Rodgers may well be hoping to add a talented young striker to his squad this summer.

Elsewhere on Friday, David Woods of the Daily Star claimed Liverpool are “weighing up a summer swoop” for UAE international winger Omar Abdulrahman.

January’s transfer window saw no new arrivals at Anfield, but Rodgers reaffirmed that he is happy with the personnel he has got to continue Liverpool’s ambitions of finishing in the top four this season.

“Every manager will always want more but we can’t affect that any more,” Rodgers said at his press conference on Thursday.

“We have now 14 League games remaining and we have the players here who have taken us this far. We’re up there at the moment and I can only be optimistic about what we can achieve with the players we have.”
