Jordan Henderson has shrugged off the glory that comes with getting one over your arch rivals by saying Liverpool’s 3-0 victory over Manchester United on Sunday was “just another game.”
The Reds comprehensively turned over David Moyes’ side at Old Trafford thanks to goals from Steven Gerrard (2) and Luis Suarez, moving up to second in the Premier League.
It extended Liverpool’s winning streak to five games, and Brendan Rodgers‘ side haven’t lost since the end of 2013, a run totalling 10 games.
And although Liverpool ended a five year wait for victory at United on Sunday, Henderson said it was just another three points on the team’s journey this season.
“It was a big win but it was just another game for us really,” the 23-year-old is quoted in the Independent as saying.
“We went there trying to do the same thing, put on a good performance, get three points and thankfully we did that so we can move on to the next performance and hopefully win that.
“We knew it was a massive game but we have been brilliant of late and we felt as though we were capable of doing what we have been doing all season and have a really good chance of winning the game.
“We dominated from start to finish and I am very pleased in that respect, but we just move on to this week against Cardiff, that will be a difficult task as we are away from home so we need to prepare well for that.”
Liverpool now travel to Cardiff City for their next Premier League outing on Saturday, 22nd March, before back-to-back home games against Sunderland and Tottenham.
With nine games of the league season to go, the Reds sit just four points behind leaders Chelsea with a game in hand and with the Blues still to come to Anfield.
