Video: Manchester United 1-4 Liverpool

Ahead of Sunday’s Premier League clash, Liverpool’s most recent victory at Old Trafford came in 2008/09 when the visitors demolished Alex Ferguson’s men 4-1.

With both sides embroiled in a tightly fought title race, Rafa Benitez took his side to Old Trafford just a couple of months after his infamous “FACT” tirade against the arch rivals and manager Alex Ferguson.

It was the home side that took the lead though thanks to a Cristiano Ronaldo penalty. But from there, it was all Liverpool.

Fernando Torres pounced upon sloppy defending from Nemanda Vidic for the equaliser and a Steven Gerrard penalty had given Liverpool the lead before half-time.

Vidic’s day went from bad to worse as the game went on as he was sent-off for bringing Gerrard down in a goal scoring opportunity.

The Reds’ Brazilian full-back Fabio Aurelio stepped up to expertly score the resulting free-kick, before Italian Andrea Dossena lobbed Edwin van der Sar late on to cap off the four goal rout.

It was a wonderful day for Liverpool fans, but would remain the club’s last victory at Old Trafford to date.

Can a rejuvenated and attacking Liverpool team under Brendan Rodgers exert misery on David Moyes’ side when the teams meet on Sunday afternoon (kick-off 1.30pm)?
