Liverpool’s principal owner John W. Henry has spoke of the excitement over the plans for an expanded Anfield stadium, with drawings set to be released next week.
Speaking on BBC One’s Football Focus, Henry said:
“We’ll be releasing some drawings in the next few weeks. We’re excited about what we’ve seen and the design that we have.
“We’re committed to doing what it takes to get Anfield to where it needs to be over the next 20, 30, 40, 50 years.
“If you’re moving from 45,000 seats to 60,000 seats you’ve got to rebuild the first 45,000 seats, so it’s incredibly expensive.
“It’s challenging but it’s also rewarding and we’ll get it done.”
Speaking of the club’s season, Henry admitted that the title challenge and form of Brendan Rodgers‘ side has been ahead of the planned schedule:
“We had our sights set on a top-four finish because we’re building.
“It’s a challenge with the way the league is structured, so if we were fortunate enough to win this year, I would say we’re ahead of schedule.”
