Premier League: Suspended Jordan Henderson still focused on Liverpool clash with Chelsea

Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson may not be available for Sunday's crucial Premier League fixture against Chelsea but he remains firmly focused on the match.

The England international is suspended for the Anfield showdown following his sending off in the 3-2 victory over Manchester City earlier this month.

Henderson's first match on the sidelines was last weekend's 3-2 win at Norwich but he still made the trip to Carrow Road as the Reds secured a place in the Champions League for next season.

"It's obviously a great achievement and I think everyone involved will be buzzing that we are in the Champions League," he told told Sky Sports' Weekend Warm-up.

"It is brilliant for the club and for us as a team as well and I think everyone is looking forward to that but we've still got a job to do this season and that's finish the last three games off really well.

"Everyone is looking forward to it but I don't think we've had a chance to think about it if I'm honest. We are just focusing on Chelsea and I think that's the only thing we can focus on really.

"We have been doing that all season and we've just got to carry on doing it. We can think about next season after the last game against Newcastle.

"I'm not getting carried away just yet because we have still got three games to go. I've seen a lot of things happen in football and things can change very quickly so we just have to stay focused."

Henderson admits he finds it harder watching than playing but he is determined to support his team-mates as the league leaders seek the win that will take them eight points clear of Chelsea.

"I'm more relaxed playing to be honest," he said. "It's frustrating when you can't be out there, you can't play and you're just watching.

"But off the pitch I've just got to try and support the team as best I can and just train as normal.

"I will try and help as best as I can and support them whether that would be just before the game before going out or whatever, just to be there and be involved."

Watch Liverpool take on Chelsea live on Sky Sports 1 at 2.05pm on Sunday.
