Has Liverpool’s bid for Adam Lallana stalled?

Whilst Rickie Lambert’s move to Liverpool looks all but confirmed and Alberto Moreno’s switch from Sevilla “close”, the Reds’ interest in Adam Lallana looks to have hit stalemate.

Negotiations between Liverpool and Southampton over 26-year-old England international Lallana have been ongoing for some time, with no agreement over a fee thought to have been reached yet.

In that time, the Reds tabled and had accepted a £4 million offer forSaints striker Lambert, who’s move to Anfield is expected to be confirmed on Monday.

But journalists on Sunday didn’t seem as confident over Lallana following Lambert to Merseyside.

Sports Editor of BBC Radio Solent, Adam Blackmore revealed in a series of tweets on Sunday night that Southampton were continuing to block Lallana’s move.

He said, “Southampton believe they have more clout to block Lallana move for now because other clubs are interested, but yesterday the relationship between Lallana and club worsened after a number of his calls to Southampton board members were ignored.

“He wants the chance to play Champions League football like anyone would and is ambitious, which he’s stated previously and he feels Southampton should be more sympathetic toward his stated aim to go to Liverpool after years of loyal service to the Saints.

“He believes he has not been dealt with correctly by those above him, given his loyalty over the years to Southampton.

“Any move that does not happen, forcing Lallana to stay at Southampton will mean some serious bridge-building needed between the player and club.”

It was thought Lallana had been hopeful of sorting out his future before the World Cup, but has now flown with the England squad for pre-tournament training and warm-up games in the USA.

Lallana played 73 minutes of England’s 3-0 victory over Peru on Friday night, and Roy Hodgson’s men face Ecuador in Miami on Wednesday 4th June.

Blackmore added that “better communication” was needed to complete a deal:
