Oussama Assaidi: Impressed during season-long loan at Stoke

Stoke City are yet to agree a deal with Liverpool for Oussama Assaidi after being quoted figures that are 'just wrong'.

Mark Hughes had been hoping to take the winger on a permanent deal this summer after seeing him impress during a season-long loan in 2013/14.

Discussions have reached deadlock, though, with neither side willing to relax their stance.

Liverpool have a fee in mind that they would like to bring in for a player snapped up from Heerenveen for £2.3million in 2012, but that asking price far exceeds what Stoke consider the Morocco international to be worth.

Chief executive Tony Scholes said in The Sentinel: “There’s been no movement on Oussama. The issue there we’ve said.

“We’ve all said, Mark and the chairman (Peter Coates) have said, that he’s a player we like.

“He settled in here last year and did very well.

“Everything points to it being a good match for the club and the player but at the moment the prices we’re being quoted are just wrong.”
