Lucas Leiva’s seven year spell at Liverpool looks set to end in the next week with both Napoli and Inter Milan interested in signing the Brazilian midfielder.

After a disappointing 2013/14 season filled with with more injury misery, Lucas returned to pre-season training at Melwood on Monday, but if reports are correct, may not be at the club much longer.

This week he has stopped following Liverpool on Twitter and removed all mentions of the club from his profile, amid speculation linking him with a move to Serie A.

Ben Jefferson of the Daily Express suggests Liverpool are keen to get a good fee for Lucas in order to fund a second bid for Southampton defender Dejan Lovren.

The Daily Mirror report that Sky Sports Italia say former Liverpool boss Rafa Bentiez is keen to take Lucas off Liverpool’s hands, but only on a loan deal.

Simon Jones of the Daily Mail says Inter Milan are “showing an interest” in signing the 27-year-old.

Lucas’ opportunities at Anfield have been increasingly limited, making just 27 league appearances last season and the arrival of Emre Can from Bayer Leverkusen will further restrict his playing time.

Since being signed to Liverpool by Benitez in 2007, Lucas has played 243 games, scoring six goals.

He won Liverpool’s Young Player of the Year award in 2009/10 and Player of the Season in 2010/11.
