Liverpool have agreed a deal thought to be worth £2 million for the sale of Pepe Reina to Bayern Munich, it is being reported on Tuesday night.

Reina has been searching for a new permanent club this summer after returning from a season-long loan spell with Napoli and now looks set to join former Barcelona teammate Pep Guardiola, manager at Bayern.

He was taken on Liverpool’s pre-season tour of the USA, but failed to play a single minute with Simon Mignolet, Brad Jones and youngster Danny Ward named ahead of him.

The 31-year-old Spanish international spent eight seasons at Liverpool under Rafa Benitez, Roy Hodgson, Kenny Dalglish and Brendan Rodgers, before Mignolet was brought in to replace him.

He made 395 appearances for the Reds since his move from Villarreal in 2006, playing his last game against QPR in May 2013— also Jamie Carragher’s final game for the club.

Having been angling for a move to Barcelona for some time, Reina penned a goodbye letter to fans upon leaving Liverpool for his loan spell at Napoli, burning all bridges with Rodgers.

Nevertheless, Reina was a popular figure on Merseyside and leaves with plenty of passionate memories.

Thanks for everything, Pepe. You’ll Never Walk Alone.
