Inter Milan are the latest club to show an interest in taking Fabio Borini from Liverpool this summer, according to reports emanating in Italy.
Journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, who has had numerous transfer news that has proven to be accurate this summer, claims Inter are interested in taking the former Roma forward on loan.
However, Liverpool have rejected offers from numerous clubs for Borini to leave on loan, instead preferring a permanent move away – having accepted Sunderland’s £14 million bid last month.
AC Milan have also been linked with the 22-year-old, with Sunderland boss Gus Poyet keen to take the player to the north-east again.
The Sunderland Chronicle report a decision is expected this week – hardly groundbreaking news given that the transfer window closes on Monday!
With the player himself seemingly keen to only leave on loan, and thus leave the door open to a return to Liverpool, will the club now allow the temporary move over the next 48 hours?
Speaking on Friday, Brendan Rodgers said:
“I think Fabio’s situation is clear. All the players who there have been doubts about know exactly where they are at.
“Fabio has got a move there to Sunderland which has been ongoing for a number of weeks. He knows where he stands in terms of his position here at Liverpool.
“For him, it’s best to move on and get playing regularly. But that’s something he has to decide.”
With Daniel Agger having completed a move away, Rodgers has made it clear to players like Borini and Ousamma Assaidi that their future lies away from Anfield.
Meanwhile, midfielder Suso is also linked with a loan move to AC Milan.
