Jordan Henderson injured in England training

Liverpool have been dealt another blow courtesy of international football, with midfielder Jordan Henderson limping out of England training on Sunday.

Henderson joins Daniel Sturridge in being injured while in training for Roy Hodgson’s side during this international break.

Sturridge is expected to miss three weeks with a thigh injury, the fourth time he’s been injured while with England in the last two years.

Henderson is now very doubtful for England’s Euro 2016 qualifier in Switzerland on Monday and consequently is a doubt too for Saturday’s Premier League game with Aston Villa at Anfield.

The Guardian write that “Henderson departed nursing a problem with his right ankle after turning away from a tackle but, having been assessed on the pitch by the team’s medical staff, he did at least hobble off unaided”.

The regularity with which players are picking up injuries while in training with England really does suggest that it isn’t just a coincidence and more due to Hodgson’s training methods.

Players such as Sturridge follow personalised training routines while with Liverpool, which aid their fitness and development.

The other frustration is just why international breaks are scheduled so inconveniently early in the season.
