Liverpool have announced their official squad list for the 2014/15 season, with the ins and outs explained here.
Following the closure of the summer transfer window, Brendan Rodgers was required to finalise his squad list for the 2014/15 season.
The stipulations presented by the Football Association limit a first-team squad to 25 players; however, various rulings can apply in contrary to this.
With the recent ‘Home Grown Player’ limitations, a maximum of 17 players ineligible for such classification can be named.
To be classed as home-grown (HG in this list), the player must been registered with any club within the FA or Welsh FA parameters for at least three whole seasons, or 36 months, prior to their 21st birthday, at any time.
Important within the Liverpool squad, players under the age of 21 (U21 in this list) do not require registration within this squad list.
Here is the Liverpool squad list for the 2014/15 season, including notable U21 players:
Goalkeepers
Brad Jones (HG)
Simon Mignolet
Defenders
Glen Johnson (HG)
Javier Manquillo (U21)
Jon Flanagan (U21)
Alberto Moreno
Jose Enrique
Dejan Lovren
Martin Skrtel
Mamadou Sakho
Kolo Toure
Midfielders
Steven Gerrard (HG)
Lucas Leiva
Joe Allen (HG)
Jordan Henderson (HG)
Emre Can (U21)
Adam Lallana (HG)
Philippe Coutinho
Raheem Sterling (U21)
Lazar Markovic (U21)
Suso (U21)
Strikers
Daniel Sturridge (HG)
Mario Balotelli
Rickie Lambert (HG)
Fabio Borini (HG)
Rodgers may supplement his squad with further U21 players throughout the season, as with the previous campaign with the inclusions of players such as Jordan Rossiter and Brad Smith.
Whilst this finalised senior squad cannot be altered until the opening of the January transfer window on 1 January 2015, any free signings may be registered at any time.
This is important to note, given the Reds’ interest in former Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes, now a free agent.
