Divock Origi reveals regular contact with Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers

Divock Origi says he is in regular contact with Liverpool as he continues to thrive at Lille in preparation for the Premier League.

The striker is likely to start Belgium's European Qualifier against Andorra on Friday after scoring four times in five starts for the French club this season.

Origi joined Liverpool for a reported £10m in the summer but was sent back to Ligue 1 for a year as Mario Balotelli was signed as this season's front-line striker.

But, speaking at Belgium's training camp, the teenager told Sky Sports News HQ he has not been forgotten at Anfield.

"Brendan Rodgers keeps in touch when he can because he's a busy man," Origi said. "Sometimes he sends me some messages and sometimes people from Liverpool come and visit me in Lille. It's good to know they are following my progress.

"Things are going well but there's still some room for improvement. I'm still working hard trying to prepare myself for a higher level. I'm feeling good and ready to continue this form."

Liverpool's start to the season has been mixed, Saturday's win over West Brom ending a run of one point from three league games.

But Origi said: "It's a new era at Liverpool and everything will go well. They have a fantastic team: Balotelli is a great striker, they have Daniel Sturridge and they have Raheem Sterling - one of the best young talents in the world.

"It's only positive and I don't think we have to worry about Liverpool."

Watch Belgium v Andorra live on Sky Sports 5 (red button) on Friday, kick-off 7.45pm.
