Liverpool have been dealt a huge blow to their hopes of getting their season back on track with the news that Daniel Sturridge has suffered another thigh injury.
The 25-year-old has been out of action since August after picking up a thigh problem during England training in early September.
Sturridge was due to return at the end of October, but just days from his return pulled up with another injury. Reports on Tuesday night suggest lightning has struck twice.
Brendan Rodgers and Liverpool now face an anxious wait for results from Sturridge’s scan to determine at what cost the striker’s latest setback will be.
Liverpool had hoped to give Sturridge and Mario Balotelli only their second game together when the Reds travel to Crystal Palace this Sunday after positive news over the latter’s availability.
