Tom Ince: Hull ordered to pay £2m in compensation for England U21 player

A transfer tribunal has ordered Hull to pay an initial £2m for Tom Ince following his move from Blackpool in July 2014.

Ince was linked with a number of clubs before Hull secured his signature, after his contract expired at Bloomfield Road.

He subsequently joined Hull on a two-year contract but they must now pay the Championship side £2m plus add-ons in compensation as Ince is only 22.

Ince’s first club, Liverpool, will also benefit from the deal, with 35 per cent or £700,000 of the fee going to Brendan Rodgers’ side for their part in developing the player.

Ince started the first three Premier League games of the season for Steve Bruce’s side and also scored in the 3-2 defeat to West Brom in the Capital One Cup.

He then joined Nottingham Forest on loan, where he featured in six matches, and the England U21 international has played a further four times for the Tigers, including against Arsenal in the FA Cup, since returning to the KC Stadium.

Watch West Ham v Hull this Sunday from 12:30pm on Sky Sports 1 HD.
