Former Liverpool defender John Arne Riise has confirmed that he has been invited to play at a Steven Gerrard charity match in late March.
The match has been provisionally scheduled for March 29th, the weekend of an international break.
Spanish trio Fernando Torres, Pepe Reina and Xabi Alonso are among the others players invited to take part in the game that will raise money for local charities and the Liverpool FC Foundation.
It’s understood that Gerrard and Jamie Carragher will be the two managers, presumably with both playing some part in the match itself too.
Luis Garcia is also on the invite list and Daniel Agger is expected to make a return to the club after joining Brondby in the summer. Dirk Kuyt is another name Reds’ fans will be hoping who will return. Alvaro Arbeloa and Javier Mascherano are also understood to have been invited and former Reds Didi Hamann, Vladimir Smicer and Robbie Fowler will take part.
The match has not yet though been confirmed with players who are currently still playing requiring approval from their club and/or country to participate.
Gerrard had his club testimonial against Olympiakos in August 2013, which saw him donate half a million pounds to Alder Hey children’s hospital.

Liverpool may yet also schedule a post-season friendly, as they did last season against Shamrock Rovers in Dublin, which would actually be Gerrard’s last appearance for the club.
