Sky Sports’ Jamie Carragher will be part of a Liverpool Legends team that will take on Real Madrid Legends at the Bernabeu in June.

Ex-Reds stars Robbie Fowler, Michael Owen, Luis Garcia, Vladimir Smicer and Harry Kewell and will all feature in a side managed by all-time leading goalscorer Ian Rush.

And they will take on the likes of Roberto Carlos, Fernando Hierro, Claude Makelele and Emilio ButragueƱo on Sunday June 14, with a return game set for Anfield in the near future.

The matches will raise funds for both clubs’ charitable foundations.

Liverpool’s chief executive Ian Ayre said: “We are delighted to announce our first ever official Liverpool Legends team and a first match with Real Madrid.

“The high calibre of players involved so far is a testament to both clubs and should make for a great game.

“We are hoping to build on the success of this partnership and look to stage more Liverpool Legends games in the future.

“As vice chair of the Liverpool FC Foundation I know that the funds raised from the second leg will benefit the wide range of programmes that help support youngsters and adults both locally and across the world.”

All proceeds raised from the Madrid game will be donated to the Real Madrid Foundation, which develops and delivers social and cultural awareness programmes both in Spain and overseas.

The funds will be used to help children from the programme, ‘Promoting School Success’ which is delivered by the Spanish Red Cross, under the slogan ‘Your ticket, their future.’
