Swansea City Chairman Huw Jenkins thinks Liverpool have to “deal with things the right way” regarding Raheem Sterling's future.

According Sky sources, Sterling is set to resume contract talks with Liverpool on Friday but intends to tell them he does not plan to sign a new deal.

And Jenkins told Sky Sports News HQ on Tuesday that he believes is it the agents who are in control and that all clubs - even those at the highest level - are subject to their power.

“I think things have changed and with the freedom of contracts and clubs trying to maximise transfer values, players do have that right to let their contracts run down,” Jenkins said.

“With one or two years to go, clubs are trying to deal with the situation earlier to try and get a transfer fee back in.

“But if clubs like Liverpool have got that continued problem, at the level they are at, it does exist in the game and we’ve all got to face that challenge and deal with things the right way.

“Making those decisions accordingly, which will be right for each individual club.”

Swansea manager Gary Monk is currently undergoing contract talks with the club and has told Sky Sports he would relish an extended stay and is "dreaming big".

Swansea have achieved a record-high finish in the Premier League in 8th position this season, although they suffered a 4-2 lost against Manchester City last Sunday.

They face Crystal Palace this Sunday in their last game of the 2014/15 season.
