Mike Marsh (c) leaves position as Liverpool first team coach

Liverpool first team coach Mike Marsh has left Anfield following the club’s end-of-season review.

Marsh, whose contract was up at the end of the campaign, was informed it would not be renewed after talks between manager Brendan Rodgers, chairman Tom Werner and director Mike Gordon.

The 45-year-old made over 100 appearances for the club between 1989 and 1993 - an FA Cup victory in 1992 the highlight of his career - before moving on to play for West Ham, Galatasaray and Southend.

He returned to the club in a coaching capacity at Liverpool’s academy in 2009 and became manager of the club’s U18 side in 2011.

A year later, Marsh became first-team coach following Rodgers’ appointment in the summer of 2012.

Liverpool will replace Marsh in due course, but goalkeeping coach John Achterberg, whose position had looked uncertain, will continue in his current role.
