Sean O'Driscoll: Heading for Anfield

Liverpool will appoint England Under-19 head coach, Sean O'Driscoll, as their new assistant manager, according to reports.

The former Nottingham Forest and Bristol City boss is all set to replace Colin Pascoe, who was axed earlier in the month along with first-team coach Mike Marsh after a season review by owners Fenway Sports Group.

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is a big admirer of O’Driscoll, 57, and according to The Guardian the deal should be finalised before the Reds embark on their pre-season tour of Australia and the Far East on 12 July.

Rodgers has previously described O'Driscoll as "one of the best coaches I have ever come across" and he is believed to have identified the former Doncaster and Bournemouth boss as the man he wants as his number two.

Liverpool are also expected to confirm that Academy under-16s coach Pepijn Lijnders is being promoted.

The Dutchman is set to be Marsh's replacement as first-team coach at Melwood.
