Man City closing on Raheem Sterling, David de Gea's Real move hopes boosted and Andros Townsend to West Ham are Tuesday's top paper rumours.
CITY HOPES GROW OVER STERLING
Man City are growing 'increasingly confident' of sealing a record £50m move for Liverpool forward Raheem Sterling and hope to finalise the switch before the end of next week.
That's according to the Daily Star, who believe Sterling's transfer could be finalised in time to include Sterling on the club's tour of Australia.
It is doubtful an agreement will be reached before Manuel Pellegrini's squad leave on Thursday, but the Chilean remains hopeful Sterling will link-up with his men midway through the tour.
City have seen two bids of up to £40m rejected, with the Reds holding out for £50m.
But it is understood City chairman Khaldoon Al-Mubarak is willing to meet the asking price and knows agreeing personal terms with Sterling will be a formality.
City are convinced the Reds will accept £45m in cash - plus an extra £5m depending on Sterling's success at the Etihad.
The deal would smash City's transfer record and make Sterling the most expensive Englishman in history.
Sterling returned to pre-season training with Brendan Rodgers's men on Monday, but has made it clear he wants to leave Anfield after rejecting a new deal worth £100,000-a-week.
CASILLAS MOVE BOOSTS DE GEA
David de Gea's dream move to Real Madrid looks to be edging closer after the Guardian and The Sun both reported that Iker Casillas is on the brink of moving to Porto.
The Man United stopper has long been linked with a move to the Bernabeu, but the deal has been held up as the clubs haggle over a fee and United's interest in Real defender Sergio Ramos.
But the departure of long-serving No 1 Casillas from the Bernabeu will at least clear up one path for De Gea with a move to Porto on the brink of being finalised.
Casillas has a 25-year association with Real Madrid, but that appears to be coming to a close as his agent told Portuguese media: "Iker is interested in Porto and Porto are interested in Iker. We hope Madrid facilitate his departure."
HAMMERS IN FOR £15M TOWNSEND
West Ham are keen on a move for Andros Townsend this summer and are preparing a £15million bid for the England winger, reports the Daily Mirror.
However, the Hammers fear 'bad blood' between themselves and Tottenham could scupper their hopes of signing him, with Spurs preferring to sell to either Aston Villa or Newcastle, who have also been credited with an interest.
Townsend seems destined to leave Spurs this summer after an indifferent campaign at White Hart Lane which saw him drift out of Mauricio Pochettino's first-team reckoning and the winger will want regular football ahead of the European Championships next summer.
