Brendan Rodgers says new signing Christian Benteke "fits perfectly" with his Liverpool squad.
Benteke became Liverpool’s second most expensive signing after joining the club from Aston Villa for £32.5m.
The Belgian striker is likely to make his competitive debut for Liverpool in Sunday’s Premier League fixture away at Stoke.
Rodgers will be hoping his side can banish the memory of last season’s 6-1 final day defeat at the Britannia Stadium.
“Benteke is the type who fits perfectly for us,” said Rodgers.
“He has massive potential. He can play the power game and his movement is very clever.
“We will certainly be better than we were at Stoke last season. We lacked in everything that day.
“A score like that should never happen. We owe them [the fans].”
Benteke has said Aston Villa boss Tim Sherwood underestimated his ability to play "modern" football.
Sherwood believed moving to Liverpool was the wrong choice for Benteke, saying: "There's no point moving to a club where they don't cross the ball."
Rodgers confirmed that James Milner had been appointed as vice-captain for the upcoming campaign.
"When there was the possibility he was available, we were surprised, but hopeful we could get him," said Rodgers.
"His talent is undeniable. He is in two and a half hours before he trains and he gives his maximum in his work. He prepares himself as an elite player should.
"He has great character and will be a great allay for Jordan Henderson. He is a great character in the dressing room."
Rodgers refused to comment on the future of striker Mario Balotelli, although the Italian is expected to leave Anfield before the end of the transfer window.
"Everyone who is here at he club is fully focused on the first game this weekend," said Rodgers.
"I don't think it's fair to talk about any individuals with regard to their situations. Any conversation I have about players futures is between me and them."
