AC Milan are reported to have agreed a deal with Liverpool to sign Italy striker Mario Balotelli on loan without having to pay a fee.
Milan's chief executive Adriano Galliani revealed on Sunday that talks were ongoing with Liverpool over Balotelli, and a deal is now close to being finalised, according to Sky Italia.
The two clubs are yet to agree on what proportion of Balotelli's wages Milan will contribute, but the Italians will apparently not have to pay a loan fee to take the 25-year-old for the season - and not be committed to buying him on a permanent basis at the end of his loan.
Balotelli has not played a minute of football this season under Brendan Rodgers and scored one Premier League goal last season following his £16 million move from AC Milan.
"There are negotiations with Liverpool for a loan, but we have not reached an agreement on wages," Galiani told Mediaset Premium on Sunday.
"We want a loan with a portion of the wages paid by us and another portion by Liverpool.
"We want Balo because we are convinced this lad realises that this is absolutely his last chance. I hope he understands that."
