Brendan Rodgers‘ side produced an unforgettable display at White Hart Lane on Sunday, getting to within two points of Arsenal at the top of the Premier League in the process. Henry Jackson (@OnFootballTweet) rates the performances on the day. Do you agree?
SIMON MIGNOLET- 6 (out of 10)
The Reds ‘keeper didn’t have his finest game of the season, often looking unconvincing on the ball. He was slightly lucky to have been adjudged to have been fouled by Roberto Soldado, and had little to do in terms of shot stopping.
GLEN JOHNSON- 5
The 29-year-old was comfortably Liverpool’s weakest player on the day. He was erratic in possession, often putting his teammates under pressure with slack play. Also lacked his usual attacking thrust.
MARTIN SKRTEL- 7
The Slovakian celebrated his 29th birthday in style, and was extremely solid throughout. He was strong in the tackle and kept Soldado quiet for the most part.
He has come a long way since his days at the club looked numbered last season.
The Frenchman was superb, and read the game to perfection from start to finish. The 23-year-old may look slightly gangly on the ball, but his distribution and ability to play out from the back is both impressive and underrated.
JON FLANAGAN- 8
The youngster has been a revelation at left-back since being drafted into the side, proving many people wrong in the process. The 20-year-old kept the supposedly dangerous duo of Kyle Walker and Aaron Lennon every quiet, and topped off a great display with his first ever senior goal.
LUCAS- 7
The Brazilian returned to the side in place of the injured Steven Gerrard, and produced one of his best performances of the season. He was a calming influence throughout, and his passing was more incisive and meaningful than it had been prior to him being dropped.
JOE ALLEN- 8
Allen has been criticised by many for his displays in a Reds shirt since his arrival from Swansea, but he was superb against a powerful Spurs midfield. The 23-year-old pressed relentlessly, was neat and tidy in possession and got forward when he could. A hugely encouraging performance.
JORDAN HENDERSON- 9
Henderson has been terrific all season, but his performance on Sunday was his best since signing for Liverpool in the summer of 2011. He was the clear Man of the Match, combining pace, power, a terrific goal and a great array of passing. The Englishman is getting better and better, and will only grow further in confidence after that outstanding performance.
RAHEEM STERLING- 8
The 19-year-old has had a tough year since a great start to last season, but he was terrific against Andre Villas-Boas’ side. From the start, he caused Kyle Naughton all sorts of problems with his pace and trickery. He played a key part in both Henderson’s goal, showing why so many see him as a future Liverpool and England regular.
Not the 21-year-old’s most effective display in a Liverpool shirt. He was wasteful on the ball considering his vast talent, but did still look a constant threat. Delightful pass in the lead up to Henderson’s goal.
LUIS SUAREZ- 8
Is there a better player in world football at the moment? Some would argue Cristiano Ronaldo, with Lionel Messi injured, but the Uruguyan is absolutely phenomenal.
Two more magnificently-taken goals took his league tally to 17 in just 11 games, and he also played a pivotal role in two of Liverpool’s other goals. For his incredibly high standards he was slightly sloppy on the ball, but that’s being very picky.
