Following his hugely impressive season with Liverpool, Luis Suarez has praised his teammates and looks on to their importance in next season’s Champions League.

Quotes, via the Daily Mirror , this weekend have seen the Uruguayan striker evaluate his double-Footballer of the Year, 30-plus goal season with the Reds as the “best season of my career.”
Following his problematic second season with the club, culminating in an 10-match ban for biting Chelsea’s Branislav Ivanovic, Suarez expressed the importance of “focus”.
“My year is a good example of keeping going, keeping your chin up.”
“A lot of players might think they can’t play somewhere if they are getting a lot of criticism from outside, but you have to focus on your job. My job is here at Liverpool, at Melwood, at Anfield. I put everything into that.”
“Everyone knows how difficult last summer was, but I know that, if you try to do nothing wrong on the pitch, if you do not take a red card, you cannot get criticism.
“If you play for the team and play from the heart, then people recognise your work.”
Liverpool’s leading goalscorer is rightly proud of his achievements this season and his contribution to the Reds’ outstanding campaign, but he insists it’s not a individual effort:
“It is great that we have achieved Champions League football and I have taken a lot of praise for being top scorer. So, it’s been a nice season for me but, most importantly, I recognise much more the work of my team-mates.”

Having played in the Champions League with Ajax, Suarez knows the rigours of Europe’s elite competition well, and suggests that Rodgers’ thin current squad will need reinforcing in order to compete on more fronts in 2014/15.
“Of course, we will need a bigger, stronger squad. We have a really good, but a short squad. Everyone knows we have a good base, but we will need more players because we will be fighting in four competitions.”
One player who will central in this fight is Suarez, who reaffirmed his commitment to the club, amid speculation of interest from Real Madrid.
Having signed a new long-term contract with Liverpool last summer, the Uruguayan looks set on fulfilling it following the club’s success: “I signed that long contract because I love it here.”

Brendan Rodgers looks to renew his interest in Swansea City goalkeeper Michel Vorm this summer, as reports this weekend suggest.
Reports on Sunday have linked Swansea City’s Michel Vorm with a move to Liverpool this summer, as Brendan Rodgers looks to bolster his side for next season’s Champions League campaign.
Alan Nixon, of the Daily Mirror , claims that Rodgers wishes to make Vorm one of his first signings of the summer, to provide competition for Simon Mignolet.
“With Liverpool back in the Champions League, Rodgers thinks there is a need for a second senior No.1 at Anfield. Vorm would jump at a move to Merseyside and the chance to compete for first-team action – and Mignolet will benefit from the challenge.”
The reported fee for the Dutchman varies from £5 million (Daily Mail ) to £7 million (Mirror), and would represent a small portion of the £60 million Rodgers has been given to reinforce his squad.
This is not the first time Rodgers has reportedly looked at the Dutch shot-stopper in this time with Liverpool, with links going back to early 2013 (Liverpool Echo ), at which time the 30-year-old admitted “A reunion with Rodgers would be special.”
Vorm has made 26 league appearances for the Swans this season, keeping seven clean sheets; he is an agile shot-stopper who is also adept with the ball at his feet.
Last summer, Liverpool were linked with Aston Villa’s Shay Given, and this suggests Rodgers wants competition between his goalkeepers—something which current back-up Brad Jones can’t offer.

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho believes Edin Dzeko, and not Luis Suarez, should have been the Premier League's player of the season.
Mourinho has been a regular critic of the Liverpool striker, who won the PFA and Football Writers' Association awards, dubbing him as the king of penalties and describing him as an "acrobatic swimming pool" diver.
And now Mourinho has stated his belief that the player of the year should be either Suarez's Anfield team-mate Steven Gerrard or Manchester City striker Dzeko, who has scored some vital goals in his side's end-of-season run.
City will secure the title on Sunday with a point against West Ham and Mourinho feels the individual award winner should come from the champions.
Mourinho said: "Luis Suarez is a very good player. They're not voting for a player who has no quality.
"(But) the profile of player who wins the player of the year is not the profile of player who used to win in English football 10, eight, six years ago.
"He bit (Chelsea's Branislav Ivanovic) not this season but the previous season. This is a different season. I'm not speaking about one mistake that a man can have. You don't have to be punished for the rest of your life if you make a mistake on the football pitch.
"(But) my player of the year would be always from the champions, in every condition.
"If the champion is Man City - they need a point - I would say a Man City player and if I have to choose one, I would choose Dzeko.
"The kind of player he is, he's not just a goalscorer. He assists, he plays, he behaves, he's fair, doesn't dive, doesn't try to put opponents in the stands with accumulation of cards.
"He was the third (choice) striker at the beginning of the season. He was hidden behind his manager's first choices and when the team needed him in crucial moments of the season, I think he made the difference.
"In this moment I think he has 16 goals. Sixteen goals for the third striker is something spectacular."
Mourinho's praise for Gerrard even included thinly veiled criticism of Suarez.
He added: "Tremendous cold blood as a penalty taker. He had lots of them but with every penalty he was there for the team too and some of them were crucial."
