Danny Ings: Transfer fee decision is set to go to a tribunal

Danny Ings: Transfer fee decision is set to go to a tribunal

Liverpool and Burnley will await the verdict of a tribunal to decide the fee for Danny Ings after the two clubs failed to reach an agreement.

After initial interest from the Reds the clubs were unable to agree a deal with a £5million bid was turned down by the Clarets and Liverpool refused to loan a player to Turf Moor, according to the Lancashire Telegraph.

With Burnley apparently holding out for a fee in the region of £8million, the tribunal panel will decide how much Liverpool will be required to pay because Ings is under the age of 24.

However, the east Lancashire club will be hoping that with Tottenham's reportedly prepared to pay £12million for the England Under-21 international boost how much they receive.

Roberto Firmino: Determined to bring success to Liverpool

Roberto Firmino: Determined to bring success to Liverpool

Liverpool's £29m summer signing Roberto Firmino hopes to celebrate "a lot of success" at Anfield and 'can't wait test himself in the Premier League'.

The Brazil playmaker, who is currently on holiday following the Copa America, is preparing to start his Reds career after completing a £29million switch from Bundesliga outfit Hoffenheim

The attacking midfielder is relishing the chance to test himself in English football after penning a five-year contract.

Speaking to Hoffenheim's official website, he said: "First and foremost, I’m looking forward to the new challenge and I’m excited to see what the Premier League has to offer.

"Of course everything will once again be new to me at the start. I’m going to have to get used to a new playing style, but I’ll also get the opportunity to improve my game even further there.

"Obviously I’d like to establish myself as a starter in my new team and go on to celebrate a lot of success at Liverpool."

After scoring 47 goals in 151 appearances in Germany, Firmino decided the time was right to move on.

"I was just 19 when I arrived at Hoffenheim," he added. "Everything was new to me: a foreign country, a different language - at the start it wasn’t so easy, but I settled in quickly.

"The club and my team-mates helped me enormously with that. With time, I understood more and more and eventually I was able to communicate and express myself really well.

"I’ve had four great years here. In terms of my football, I’ve learnt a lot of new things and I’ve had some fantastic life experiences too. My time and the people here in Kraichgau will always have a place in my heart.

"Moving from Brazil to Europe was a big adventure for me. I obviously had my doubts, but in hindsight it couldn’t have gone any better. Here at TSG I’ve learnt a new way of playing football, but I’ve also been able to put my own talents on display.

"Thanks to all the hard work I’ve put in with this team, I’ve managed to break into the Brazil national team, which is an outstanding achievement not just in my sporting career but also in my life. To play for my country was a dream come true.

"It means so much to me and I know who I have to thank for it - so many people here have believed in me, even in those times when it wasn’t looking so good. That says a lot about this club. Players who come here get a fantastic education, both on and off the field.

"I’ve always felt at home here, the people have always been good to me. I’ve got a lot to thank this team for. Therefore I definitely won’t simply be leaving and forgetting my time here. Furthermore, my daughter was born here and I’ll always have a really special relationship with this place.

"It’s been here in Hoffenheim and the surrounding areas that I’ve developed into the person that I am. I’ve now got the opportunity to start a new exciting chapter. And I know that I can always come back here."

Mario Balotelli: Has been given compassionate leave

Mario Balotelli: Has been given compassionate leave

Mario Balotelli has been granted compassionate leave by Liverpool following the death of his adoptive father, the club confirmed.

Liverpool’s first-team squad - including Raheem Sterling - returned for pre-season training on Monday, but Balotelli was a notable absentee amid reports of the death of his adoptive father Francesco at the weekend.

The 24-year-old striker wrote on Twitter at the weekend: "Thanks everyone for the support. I really wanna thanks everybody. My family thanks all of you too."

Liverpool confirmed that Balotelli has been given leave but insist that the details remain private.

The club depart for their pre-season tour to the Far East and Australia this weekend and Balotelli is expected to join up with the squad at some stage.

Balotelli was born to Ghanaian parents in the Sicilian city of Palermo but was raised by the Balotelli family in Brescia from the age of two.

The Italy international has been linked with a move away from Merseyside after returning just four goals for the club following a £16m move from AC Milan last summer.

Liverpool have already reinforced their attacking options with the acquisition of England U21 striker Danny Ings from Burnley and Brazil international Roberto Firmino from TGB Hoffenheim.

Divock Origi has also joined his new team-mates after remaining on loan with Lille last season, while Liverpool have also been linked with a move for fellow Belgian international Christian Benteke from Aston Villa.

Raheem Sterling: Tipped to make £50m move to City

Raheem Sterling: Tipped to make £50m move to City

Man City closing on Raheem Sterling, David de Gea's Real move hopes boosted and Andros Townsend to West Ham are Tuesday's top paper rumours.

CITY HOPES GROW OVER STERLING

Man City are growing 'increasingly confident' of sealing a record £50m move for Liverpool forward Raheem Sterling and hope to finalise the switch before the end of next week.

That's according to the Daily Star, who believe Sterling's transfer could be finalised in time to include Sterling on the club's tour of Australia.

It is doubtful an agreement will be reached before Manuel Pellegrini's squad leave on Thursday, but the Chilean remains hopeful Sterling will link-up with his men midway through the tour.

City have seen two bids of up to £40m rejected, with the Reds holding out for £50m.

But it is understood City chairman Khaldoon Al-Mubarak is willing to meet the asking price and knows agreeing personal terms with Sterling will be a formality.

City are convinced the Reds will accept £45m in cash - plus an extra £5m depending on Sterling's success at the Etihad.

The deal would smash City's transfer record and make Sterling the most expensive Englishman in history.

Sterling returned to pre-season training with Brendan Rodgers's men on Monday, but has made it clear he wants to leave Anfield after rejecting a new deal worth £100,000-a-week.

CASILLAS MOVE BOOSTS DE GEA

David de Gea's dream move to Real Madrid looks to be edging closer after the Guardian and The Sun both reported that Iker Casillas is on the brink of moving to Porto.

The Man United stopper has long been linked with a move to the Bernabeu, but the deal has been held up as the clubs haggle over a fee and United's interest in Real defender Sergio Ramos.

But the departure of long-serving No 1 Casillas from the Bernabeu will at least clear up one path for De Gea with a move to Porto on the brink of being finalised.

Casillas has a 25-year association with Real Madrid, but that appears to be coming to a close as his agent told Portuguese media: "Iker is interested in Porto and Porto are interested in Iker. We hope Madrid facilitate his departure."

HAMMERS IN FOR £15M TOWNSEND

West Ham are keen on a move for Andros Townsend this summer and are preparing a £15million bid for the England winger, reports the Daily Mirror.

However, the Hammers fear 'bad blood' between themselves and Tottenham could scupper their hopes of signing him, with Spurs preferring to sell to either Aston Villa or Newcastle, who have also been credited with an interest.

Townsend seems destined to leave Spurs this summer after an indifferent campaign at White Hart Lane which saw him drift out of Mauricio Pochettino's first-team reckoning and the winger will want regular football ahead of the European Championships next summer.
