Steven Gerrard semakin dimakan usia namun Liverpool dikatakan masih buntu mencari penganti beliau.

Simon Mignolet : Berlatih bersama SAS turut meningkatkan permainan saya.

Liverpool fans have been hit with a massive reduction in tickets for the forthcoming FA Cup 5th round tie at Arsenal.

LONDON, ENGLAND - Wednesday, January 30, 2013: Liverpool supporters protest against high ticket prices during the Premiership match against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium. 'Football Without Fans Is Nothing' (Pic by David Rawcliffe/Propaganda)

Under the tournament rules, Liverpool were due to receive an allocation of 9,000 away tickets, but a statement released by the club this morning reveals Arsneal’s Safety Advisory Group has intervened to reduce the allocation to 5,168.

The grounds they give to justify the massive reduction are quoted as “fears over safety issues from supporters standing in the upper tiers of the stadium”.

Liverpool Football Club explain in a statement:

Any decision on ticket allocation is made by the Safety Advisory Group; however, Liverpool Football Club have been in continued dialogue with Arsenal and made every attempt to obtain the full allocation for fans.

A plea had been made by Liverpool supporters’ union, Spirit of Shankly, prior to the decision for the full allocation, fairer ticket prices and an earlier kick-off time.

Although the game has been demoted to a ‘category B’ game, meaning tickets start at £35.50 and rising to £54, the kick-off time has been confirmed as 4pm, to accommodate live television coverage.

A statement from Spirit of Shankly expressed their disappointment in the decision by Arsenal:

As a result [of Tuesday’s allocation announcement], we have immediately re-written to both clubs today to ask them to explain this decision, given the absurdity that a football club can designate an area as being available to away supporters yet then raise fears over potential safety issues. If necessary we will seek further information from the local authority, similar to action recently taken by our fellow supporters trust at Tottenham.

In the previous round of the FA Cup, Coventry City fans received a full allocation of 9,000 away tickets, with prices at £25.50.

Arsenal vs Liverpool in the FA Cup 5th round will take place on Saturday, 16th February 2014. Further details regarding ticket sales are due to be made public shortly.

The Reds have produced some outstanding performances this season, but frequent mistakes from various players must be eradicated if Brendan Rodgers‘ side are to finish in the top four, according to Henry Jackson (@OnFootballTweet).`

WEST BROMWICH, ENGLAND - Sunday, February 2, 2014: Liverpool's Kolo Toure looks dejected as West Bromwich Albion score the equalising goal during the Premiership match at the Hawthorns. (Pic by David Rawcliffe/Propaganda)

Kolo Toure‘s disastrous loss of possession in Sunday’s 1-1 draw with West Brom cost Liverpool two vital points, as they look to qualify for the Champions League for the first time since 2009.

It was arguably the Reds most important game of the season so far, considering the points dropped by Manchester United and Spurs. A win would’ve put Liverpool in total control of their own destiny, but an individual error cost them dear. It was yet another in a long line of them in recent times.

For all the terrific football played, excellent team spirit and brilliance of Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge, sloppy errors have been far too common. More often than not the ‘SAS’ have got Liverpool out of trouble- the 5-3 win at Stoke being a classic example- but they can’t keep doing it.

In fairness, the early part of the season looked as though Liverpool had improved drastically on the defensive naivety that dogged Rodgers in his first season at the club. Three 1-0 victories, against Stoke, Aston Villa and Manchester United emphasised this.

As as the campaign has progressed, however, more and more mistakes have crept in.

MANCHESTER, ENGLAND - Boxing Day Thursday, December 26, 2013: Liverpool's Aly Cissokho in action against Manchester City during the Premiership match at the City of Manchester Stadium. (Pic by David Rawcliffe/Propaganda)

Several of these individual errors have come from set pieces. Aly Cissoho allowing Paul Dummett to score in the 2-2 draw at Newcastle and Daniel Agger allowing the same with Romelu Lukaku away to Everton are just a couple of examples.

There have been even more from open play. All three goals in the 3-1 defeat to Hull were avoidable. Victor Moses lost the ball in a key area for Jake Livermore’s opener, a failure to clear the ball as a whole allowed Steve Bruce’s side to score a second, and Martin Skrtel scored a clumsy own goal to complete a miserable afternoon.

Simon Mignolet was badly at fault for Alvaro Negredo’s goal in the 2-1 defeat to Manchester City at the Etihad, in a game Liverpool genuinely deserved to get at least a draw from. Vincent Kompany also escaped the clutches of Skrtel too easily for his side’s equaliser.

MANCHESTER, ENGLAND - Boxing Day Thursday, December 26, 2013: Liverpool's goalkeeper Simon Mignolet looks dejected as Manchester City score the second goal to make the score 2-1 during the Premiership match at the City of Manchester Stadium. (Pic by David Rawcliffe/Propaganda)

The Negredo goal hasn’t been Mignolet’s only error this season, by any means. He let Samuel Eto’o's shot past him too easily in the loss to Chelsea, fluffed his lines from a cross in the home draw with Villa- Steven Gerrard also lost Andreas Weimann for the opener- and let Jon Walters’ late effort trickle through him against Stoke.

In that unforgettable 5-3 win, Toure lost Peter Crouch far too easily for his goal and Jordan Henderson lazily lost possession for Charlie Adam’s thunderous strike too.

This is arguably the key component that is stopping Liverpool from being genuine title contenders at the moment; as well as a lack of squad depth.

If you look at the top Premier League sides over the last 20 years, they all have the same thing in common: they gave the opposition hardly any soft goals. Whether it be Arsenal’s ‘Invincibles’, a number of United teams or Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea side between 2004 and 2006, they were ruthlessly efficient when they had to be.

Much as it may pain us all to admit it, you only have to look at Chelsea’s performance last night in their win over City. They gave the much-fancied title favourites nothing. Whether it be Petr Cech, John Terry, Gary Cahill, Nemanja Matic or David Luiz, there was never a hint of an individual error creeping in. Liverpool lack this discipline at times.

All of those great sides would’ve beaten West Brom having gone 1-0 up on Sunday. They would either have held on for an ugly 1-0 win, or they would’ve killed the game off with a second. At the moment, Liverpool are completely incapable of winning when they are playing badly, which means they simply cannot afford to keep making error after error.

If Rodgers and his men are to kick on and fight off the likes of Everton, Spurs and United in the fight for a top four place, they simply have to stop giving away such avoidable, frustrating goals.

&039;&039;Kolo lebih berpengalaman dalam berdepan situasi begitu & ia bukan pasal Kolo, ia bukan pasal individu lain tp pasal pasukan kami. Kami perlu bersatu sbg satu unit & bekerjasama. Kami menang, kami kalah, semua bersama. Stiap gol yg kami bolos sngt menghampakan, kami harus terima semua itu. Kamu main dgn 11 orng, kamu kalah dgn 11 org & menang dgn 11 org. Macam itulah ia berterusan.&039;&039;

Simon Mignolet tampil mempertahankan Kolo Toure di atas kesalahan yg dilakukan beliau.

&039;&039;Kolo lebih berpengalaman dalam berdepan situasi begitu & ia bukan pasal Kolo, ia bukan pasal individu lain tp pasal pasukan kami. Kami perlu bersatu sbg satu unit & bekerjasama. Kami menang, kami kalah, semua bersama. Stiap gol yg kami bolos sngt menghampakan, kami harus terima semua itu. Kamu main dgn 11 orng, kamu kalah dgn 11 org & menang dgn 11 org. Macam itulah ia berterusan.&039;&039;

Bab nak tunggu pasukan lain cicir mata memang leceh, sebab apa pasukan kita kena buat seseuatu bukan harap orang lain yang kantoi.

Liverpool attempted to sign Atletico Madrid right-back Javier Manquillo on transfer deadline day, according to reports in Spain.

With Glen Johnson out of action for an indefinite period of time, and Andre Wisdom on loan at Derby for the remainder of the season, Liverpool find themselves short of options on the right side of defence.

Jon Flanagan returned from injury against Everton last week to play at right-back for the Reds, and held that position for Sunday’s 1-1 draw at West Brom.

Spanish daily newspaper AS report that Liverpool were in negotiations with Atletico for Manquillo right up until January’s transfer window closed at 23:00 GMT on Friday, 31st January 2014.

19 year old Manquillo is an exciting talent in Spanish football, having made seven appearances for Spain’s Under-20 team, but has only played five times for Atletico in La Liga.

AS suggest Liverpool were hopeful of agreeing a permanent deal with Atletico of around £8 million, but manager Diego Simeone was reluctant to sell without a buy-back clause in the deal.

No agreement over a loan move for the rest of the season could be made, either.

Liverpool also spent transfer deadline day chasing Ukrainian winger Yevhen Konoplyanka, but the deal fell through at the last minute.

On Sunday, Brendan Rodgers came out in defence of Liverpool’s managing director Ian Ayre, who was in Ukraine last week trying to thrash out a deal.

Elsewhere, Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina has been linked with a permanent move to Atletico at the end of the season, should they fail to make their loan of Thibaut Courtois from Chelsea permanent.

Atletico Madrid could make a move for Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina this summer, according to talkSPORT.

Reina is spending the 2013/14 season on-loan at Napoli with former Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez, and had hoped to sign for Barcelona after his loan spell.

However, reports suggest the Catalan giants have agreed a deal to sign highly rated Borussia Monchengladbach keeper Marc-Andre ted Stegen as their first-choice goalkeeper when Victor Valdes leave the Nou Camp at the end of the season.

Atletico currently have Thibaut Courtois in goal on-loan from Chelsea, and hope to make the deal permanent, but talKSPORT believe they will turn to Reina if they fail to agree a deal.

talkSPORT write:

A swap deal involving Madrid scoring sensation Diego Costa has been mooted and if Courtois does not land a permanent move to Spain, Simeone has targeted another option.

Ironically Courtois is Belgium’s first-choice goalkeeper, with Liverpool’s Simon Mignolet, who was signed as a replacement for Reina, playing second-fiddle at international level.

Reina was on the end of a disappointing 3-0 defeat to Atalanta in Serie A at the weekend, and blamed himself for conceding goals.

“We did not expect this defeat,” he told Rai Sport, with quotes translated by Goal. “We made too many mistakes, many of which were my own.

“I feel responsible, but now we must look ahead to midweek.”

Reina was signed by Liverpool in 2005 and made 395 appearances for the Reds until Mignolet’s arrival from Sunderland last summer.

During his time at Anfield, the Spanish international won the FA Cup (2006) and League Cup (2012) and was a Champions League finalist in 2007.

Adam Bate questions the ability of Liverpool's defenders to play the football Brendan Rodgers wants following Sunday's draw at West Brom.

Booed onto the pitch by the visiting supporters, it had to be Victor Anichebe that denied Liverpool victory at West Brom on Sunday.

The former Everton striker seized upon a Kolo Toure howler to ram the ball home soon after coming on, cancelling out Daniel Sturridge's first-half opener and earning Albion a point in a game that Liverpool had threatened to turn into a Sunday afternoon stroll.

A need for goals from midfield and better passing out from the back are just some of the issues raised from this mixed bag of a Liverpool performance...

Passing conundrum

The football played by Brendan Rodgers' Liverpool since he took over has been a huge source of pride for a club steeped in such traditions.

As a result, the Reds boss knows he must take incidents like Toure's brain freeze on Sunday on the chin. One mistake isn't going to change the way he sees the game. He was unequivocal in his post-match press conference.

"Sometimes it's the price you pay when you try to play football," said Rodgers. "I've said to the team that over the past 18 months we've got into the position we are because we've shown the bravery and the courage to build the game from the back.

"Unfortunately, for the first time this season, we've been punished for that. There's no blame. He's had the courage to receive the pass."

When asked whether a certain pragmatism might be required, the question had barely tumbled from the reporter's lips before Rodgers replied. "No," he said firmly, allowing the solitary word to linger in order to emphasise the point.

"You'll be the same guys who sit at World Cups and talk about British teams not playing football. And then you wonder why. These players, especially defenders, have that courage to play."

He's right, of course. Just because the implementation was shoddy against West Brom doesn't mean the ideas behind it should be abandoned. But the two points dropped as a result of Toure's error do raise certain issues.

Principally, if the manager is so committed to a tactic of playing out from the back, why does he not employ defenders who are comfortable on the ball?

In truth, Toure is arguably the most composed of the current Liverpool back four. Jon Flanagan is still learning, Martin Skrtel might be generously referred to as 'limited' in his work, while Aly Cissokho is best described as having a difficult relationship with the ball when it is fired in his general direction.

Sunday's error was a moment of madness but it was not a complete shock.

Baggies boss Pepe Mel revealed as much in his own comments to the assembled media afterwards.

"In the second half, two strikers, high press," he said. "This is the way. If you remember, the goal was high press together with Vydra and Gera together. Then a bad pass. This is the way."

Mel has barely been in the country a fortnight but his tactics were able to expose a weakness. Other managers are likely to target Liverpool in this area, too.

Cissokho's pass completion rate of just 58 per cent was poor, while Toure surrendered possession on eight other occasions besides his error for the goal as Albion isolated him to deny passing options.

As Rodgers indicates, there is no suggestion that a philosophy should be affected as a result of one mistake. But don't be surprised if the manager privately harbours concerns over the ability of his defenders to play the sort of football he demands.

Gerrard, the centre-back?

One solution to the challenge of getting quality on the ball from deep areas has been for Gerrard to drop deep. The Reds captain frequently received the ball in defensive areas as the centre-backs split and this could hint at a future role for Gerrard as a defender himself.

Indeed, Rodgers mooted the idea in November. "I look at Steven and I think he can play as a number two centre-half later in his career. You play against teams where they've got one up and I think he can play as a right-sided centre-half."

He might be even more tempted after Sunday.

Where are the goals from midfield?

Of course, Gerrard being so deep does rob Liverpool of his qualities further forward. His tally of six Premier League goals this season is twice as many as any Liverpool player other than the two strikers. But in his new role against West Brom he had just three touches within 30 yards of the opposition goal - and two of those were as the corner taker.

Joe Allen is yet to score, Henderson has one to his name, Philippe Coutinho two and Victor Moses is looking - how should we put it - unlikely to reach his self-imposed 20 goal target. Even Raheem Sterling has netted just three goals in 19 games despite his advanced position, and that puts an awful lot of responsibility on Luis Suarez and Sturridge.

Perhaps Yevhen Konoplyanka - a played with eight goals from 19 games so far this season - could have addressed this issue. However, the Ukraine international remains with Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk after a high-powered Liverpool delegation failed to conclude the transfer.

Rodgers refused to criticise the deal-makers at Anfield but his comments in the post-match press conference were nevertheless intriguing.

"We are very much together here as a club. I'm very conscious that whatever frustrations I have, I'd never let you guys know," he said. "This is a football club where we stay together. We'll never be broken by stuff that'll be written in papers.

"I'm the type of person who, if I have an issue or a problem, I don't need to ring up journalists and give them little snippets to talk about. If I have an issue, I'll talk to the owner but I'll be diplomatic. It certainly wouldn't be in public."

A fine example of how to make a point, without making a point.

Selfish is as selfish does

Rodgers has little choice but to continue to rely on the Sturridge and Suarez partnership to fire Liverpool to success this season.

There are worse problems to be had, of course. After all, the pair have developed into a formidable duo. There has been recent speculation that selfishness remains an issue between them but there was little sign of that at The Hawthorns.

In fact, there was an almost self-conscious desire to seek out the other - complete with apologetic hand gestures when the interplay failed to come off.

Sturridge had put Suarez clean through on goal in the early stages, only for the Uruguayan to check back inside and squander the opportunity, but the favour was then returned for Liverpool's goal.

Suarez picked out his strike partner through a wall of four West Brom players for the England international to pass home from close range for his 28th Liverpool goal in just 35 appearances.

It means that the pair now have 10 Premier League assists between them this season - two more than the Sergio Aguero & Alvaro Negredo combination.

Not bad for a couple of so-called selfish players, eh? If Toure's error proves to be a one-off, it could yet take them far.
