Liverpool's hopes of bringing striker Divock Origi back to Anfield in January rely on former club Lille being prepared to release the Belgium international from his loan spell.

LILLE, FRANCE - Thursday, October 23, 2014: Lille OSC's Divock Origi in action against Everton during the UEFA Europa League Group H match at Stade Pierre-Mauroy. (Pic by David Rawcliffe/Propaganda)

The Reds beat a number of European clubs to sign the highly-rated 19-year-old in the summer but a significant part of the success of that capture was a binding agreement to allow the forward to remain in France for one further season.

If Liverpool had been given the option to bring Origi into their squad in the summer they would have taken it and Daniel Sturridge's continued absence with a thigh injury has only highlighted the need for reinforcements up front.

However, Press Association Sport understands while the club would be keen to end the loan deal early, offering substantial compensation, they will not force the issue with Lille as they wish to maintain good relations.

The French club are aware of the Merseysiders' position and the ball is now in their court, but when the subject has been raised previously they have shown no inclination to agree, with director Jean-Michel Vandamme declaring last month a January move was impossible.

Lille's position in Ligue 1, in 14th just four points above the relegation zone, makes it even more unlikely they would let a key asset leave halfway through the season.

Liverpool have been keeping a close eye on Origi since signing him in the summer with manager Brendan Rodgers admitting his coaching staff are even offering advice on how he can improve before he arrives on Merseyside.

"When he plays in France, we get a download of the game here, analyse that and then feed back to him on areas he can improve in the game and what he's doing very, very well, so when he comes into here next summer he's prepared and we know the areas of his game that are his strengths," the Reds boss said earlier this month.

News this week of a new thigh injury for Sturridge means Rodgers has to find a way of getting goals out of the trio of Mario Balotelli and Rickie Lambert – both summer arrivals – and Fabio Borini, who in 998 minutes of combined Premier League playing time have not scored.

Off the field it is understood talks over a new contract for captain Steven Gerrard, whose current deal expires in the summer, have been productive but are still ongoing.

Ian St John hosts Jan Molby and Mark Wright in the latest excellent podcast from former players organisation, 5 Times.

LIVERPOOL, ENGLAND - Sunday, August 26, 2012: Liverpool's Luis Alberto Suarez Diaz in action against Manchester City during the Premiership match at Anfield. (Pic by David Rawcliffe/Propaganda)

Between them the Liverpool legends made 927 appearances for the club between 1960 and 1998.

After briefly discussing the outcomes of the recent international break, the trio quickly get down to business — picking apart what exactly is going wrong with Liverpool and their patchy form this season.

It soon emerges how much the Reds are still missing Luis Suarez, not just for his attacking attributes and goals, but what he contributed to the team in terms of structure.

“Everyone talks about Liverpool without Luis Suarez when they have the ball but what about when they don’t have the ball?” Molby said. “How we’re getting exposed all over the pitch without his workrate.”

Wright adds, “He was never injured! Everyone was kicking him and getting inside his head but he never missed a game.”

Wright, who played 210 times for the Reds between 1991 and 1998, goes on to bemoan Liverpool’s lack of commitment in defending, acknowledging that the game has changed since his playing days, but nevertheless the art of defending a ball into the box still requires the same ingredients.

He told the podcast, “Everyone says the game’s changed to me and I understand that it has to a certain extent on the floor, but a corner or free-kick into the box — how do you defend that? It’s passion, commitment.”

Molby replied, “They used to say ‘There’s only one ball’. Head that ball away, what’s the problem?!”

It’s another fantastic podcast from the Liverpool legends, so have a listen below and make sure you’ve got your tickets to the Miracle of Istanbul reunion night at the Liverpool Echo Arena in May 2015. Details below.

SAH !!!

Daniel Sturridge The Man Of Stealth..oppss sorry ,

The Man Of Glass

~by Axello

&039;menulis dalam retorik analitikal bukan prejudis&039;

Situasi berkaitan mudahnya Sturridge tercedera.

Kenapa DS saja yg Brendan mahukan update ??

Ketika Toure melakukan mistak backpass , Rodgers tetap menyatakan ia adalah apart of team build up , build up dari belakang cuma Toure tak cukup alert tentang kehadiran pemain dibelakang Skrtel.

TACTICAL CONSIDERATION LIVERPOOL

option lain.

ROY HODGSON dan ENGLAND

Jelas sekali England merupakan pasukan yang muscular. Menngemari physical approach dan long ball orientation.

Daniel Sturridge‘s injury has now been confirmed as a grade 2 thigh strain, ruling him out for at least six weeks according to most reports.

LIVERPOOL, ENGLAND - Sunday, August 17, 2014: Liverpool's Daniel Sturridge in action against Southampton during the Premier League match at Anfield. (Pic by David Rawcliffe/Propaganda)

As Liverpool and manager Brendan Rodgers now face what will likely be another 11 games at least with Sturridge, adding to the 14 he’s already missed, reports in the media hint at Rodgers being unhappy with the situation.

It began when talkSPORT presenter Alan Brazil, a friend of Rodgers’, said on Wednesday that staff at Anfield are “getting just a little bit fed up of what is going on there with Sturridge”.

When asked for more, Brazil said “I think Brendan is very, very upset… I mean, what is going on here? Why is he (Sturridge) always injured?”

This is followed up by The Times‘ Rory Smith writing of “exasperation” among Rodgers’ staff at Sturridge’s progress.

Smith explains that Sturridge’s first two injuries (both grade 1 strains) would usually require 12 to 20 days’ rest, but Sturridge “needed twice that for the thigh strain and a month, more or less, for the calf problem. On both occasions, the striker was told by the club’s medical team that he was ready to train before he felt he was.”

Sturridge, who last month told an interview that he felt his problems may be “hereditary” clearly feels he is vulnerable to injuries and isn’t willing to put himself out there until he feels he is 100% fit.

Rodgers is seemingly becoming frustrated at the 25-year-old’s slow progress and mindset with regards his injuries.

More reaction from the broadsheets sees The Telegraph‘s Liverpool correspondent Chris Bascombe write: “It has reached the point where Rodgers might as well presume Sturridge is not coming to the rescue any time soon and, by the time we do see him back in a Liverpool shirt, there may not be much left to play for unless there is a radical upturn in form.”

Worryingly, Rory Smith writes that “Sturridge’s continuing troubles are unlikely to force Liverpool’s hand in the transfer market when it reopens in January, hoping that, by that stage, Sturridge will have returned to full fitness to supplement their other attacking options.”

Although, Bascombe claims to the contrary: “Liverpool insist the money is there if it is required. If that is the case, it is inconceivable it won’t be used, even if this will be interpreted as public acceptance serious errors were made in the summer.”

There are, however, reports that The Reds will look to bring in Divock Origi from Lille early. The Mirror rather speculatively claim it would cost them £5 million to do so. The Liverpool Echo say it would be more like £3 million, which seems more appropriate.

Liverpool must sign striker in January transfer window. Waiting for Daniel Sturridge futile - fitness too unreliable

It wouldn&039;t matter if Daniel Sturridge was greatest Liverpool striker since Ian Rush, he is - as Bill Shankly said about injured players - a &039;bloody menace&039; when not available

Waiting game: Daniel Sturridge has suffered yet another injury. It is with great regret Liverpool must postpone their Premier League cavalry charge because Daniel Sturridge has handed in another doctor&039;s note.

Sturridge is a fantastic footballer, but his latest injury underlines the risks of expecting his return to be the catalyst for a Liverpool revival. For the last two weeks it has felt like Liverpool were preparing to re-arm with the help of a striker who can actually score goals but, not for the first time, just as they were readying to raise those swords and sprint into battle.

they have been halted by the sound of a groan up ahead, their charismatic front man limping away holding his calf or thigh."Those darn genetics. They&039;ve struck again," is the not-so inspirational rally cry.

Liverpool have been dealt a further blow with the news that Daniel Sturridge is now expected to be out until next year.

The 25-year-old’s latest injury setback was revealed last night, but reports today suggest he will miss the rest of 2014 – much worse than first feared.

The injury is, incredibly, Sturridge’s 13th since joining Liverpool less than two years ago, with the majority of those being muscle related injuries.

Writing in The Times , Liverpool correspondent Tony Barrett explains:

“Liverpool’s worst fears over the fitness of Daniel Sturridge have been realised after it was confirmed that the forward has suffered a fresh thigh injury, leaving him facing a battle to play again this year.”

It’s another huge blow to Liverpool, who have scored just eight goals and gained only eight points in the eight Premier League games Sturridge has already missed this season.

If indeed Sturridge misses the rest of 2014, he will have missed another 11 games, adding to the 14 he’s already missed this season in all competitions.

A Liverpool FC statement on Wednesday reads:

Liverpool Football Club today confirmed scans have revealed Daniel Sturridge has sustained a new thigh injury.

The player will remain unavailable for selection but will be monitored and assessed during his recovery.

With what you would describe as ‘winnable’ fixtures against Crystal Palace, Stoke City, Leicester City and Sunderland up next, Brendan Rodgers would have been hoping Sturridge’s return could help turn around The Reds’ poor form. Instead, things look pretty bleak.

Sturridge’s injury leaves Rodgers with the trio of Mario Balotelli, Fabio Borini and Rickie Lambert as his forward options – who have failed to score a Premier League goal between them so far this season.

The latest injury further calls into question Liverpool’s risky transfer strategy of this summer, which seems to have been reliant upon the injury prone forward remaining fit.
