Dengan nilai jualan Luis Suarez, 3 nama besar dikaitkan utk menampung kehilangan pemain bertaraf bintang itu :

• Reus (Winger / Attacking / Striker)

• Pogba (Midfielder)

• Vidal (Midfielder)

Walaupun sudah mendapatkan Lallana, Lambert, Emre & Markovic, admin merasakan betapa pentingnya utk mendapatkan sekurang-kurangnya 1 pemain bertaraf bintang bagi menghadapi saingan lebih sengit musim hadapan.

Brendan Rodgers: Liverpool boss will carry on spending

Brendan Rodgers: Liverpool boss will carry on spending

After Brendan Rodgers vowed to carry on spending, Matt Briggs and Rob McCarthy debate how the Liverpool boss should use the Luis Suarez cash.

In Daily Debate, two TEAMtalk writers give their views on a hot topic and then invite readers to decide who has put forward the best argument.

You can vote for your winner using the story comment facility at the bottom of the article, or by declaring your support on Twitter.

Should Liverpool look for marquee signing?

Liverpool have already spent the best part of £60million this summer on Lazar Markovic, Emre Can, Adam Lallana and Rickie Lambert but Brendan Rodgers insists he would have looked to bring in the quartet.

The £75million the Reds received for the Uruguayan means there is still plenty of cash left in the kitty for Rodgers to spend but should the Northern Irishman be looking for a big-money marquee signing to replace his star player or instead focus on adding numbers to a squad that looked on the thin side even without the Champions League to contend with.

Matt Briggs and Rob McCarthy have their say...

Matt Briggs (@MattPBriggs) - Big-money striker is needed

Liverpool simply have to bring in a big-money striker to replace Luis Suarez.

Tottenham failed after they made numerous signings to fill the huge void left by Gareth Bale, and boss Brendan Rodgers should heed the warning from White Hart Lane.

It certainly won't be easy replacing Suarez and the 31 goals he blasted for the Anfield club last season, but it's imperative to do so for their Premier League and Champions League ambitions.

It was an admirable attempt to land Alexis Sanchez - geography put paid to that deal with the Chilean keen to reside in the capital - but the very fact that the Reds were in the running to sign the forward is encouraging. And now Rodgers needs to step up his hunt and bag a big-time striker.

Swansea striker Wilfried Bony and Edinson Cavani have been mentioned as targets, and while both may well prove to be good signings, I don't think Bony for one would fit into the superstar bracket.

I think Rodgers should go and break the bank to sign Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema.

The 26-year-old France striker showed at the World Cup that he is in his prime and after firing 17 goals in 35 appearances for the Spanish giants he will undoubtedly be able to cut the mustard in the Premier League.

He seems to be the best viable option out there at the moment and well worth spending a large chunk of the Suarez money on.

State your support for Matt using the story comment facility below or by getting in touch on Twitter @TEAMtalk.

Rob McCarthy (@Robmac77) - Spend on the defence

I firmly believe that Brendan Rodgers would be better served spending the Suarez money on strengthening his back line rather than splashing the majority of it on someone that is virtually irreplaceable.

Admittedly I'm not a Liverpool fan but from the outside looking in I think Rodgers should be looking to get an upgrade on Glenn Johnson and a world-class central defender.

John Flanagan proved his versatility last season but it's a lot to ask a player of that relative inexperience to perform consistently well in the Premier League and Champions League week in, week out. To that end I'm quite sure why the Reds boss didn't try to get Bacary Sagna when the Arsenal man confirmed his intention to quit the Gunners and be a back-up to Pablo Zabaleta at City.

Any combination of Martin Skrtel, Daniel Agger, Kolo Toure and Mamadou Sakho didn't really impress me last season, so I think a big-money bid for German World Cup-winner Mats Hummels would be just the ticket for the Reds.

With Adam Lallana, Rickie Lambert, Emre Can and Lazar Markovic already on board, Rodgers has already improved the club's attacking options but it's what he now does with the Suarez money that could define Liverpool's season. That's exactly why I'm stating the case for a defence at Anfield.

Liverpool take the short trip north to face League One side Preston North End on Saturday in The Reds’ second pre-season friendly (kick off 3pm).

PRESTON, ENGLAND - Saturday, July 13, 2013: A general view of Preston North End's Deepdale before a preseason friendly match against Liverpool. (Pic by David Rawcliffe/Propaganda)

It’s the second successive year that the two sides have met, with Liverpool last year kicking off their preparations at Deepdale with a 4-0 win in the ‘Bill Shankly Shield’ match.

That match a year ago saw Philippe Coutinho, Jordon Ibe, Raheem Sterling and Iago Aspas net the goals for The Reds.

Team News

This year the match will provide a first opportunity for fans to see new signing Emre Can in action, with the German having missed Wednesday’s match against Brondby with an ankle niggle.

23 players featured in that game in Copenhagen, with Brendan Rodgers likely to field a different XI in each half again on Saturday.

Having named the squad for the US tour yesterday, the match will be a last chance for some of the youngsters not heading across the Atlantic to impress the boss; the likes of Lloyd Jones, Brad Smith, Jordan Rossiter, Kristoffer Peterson, Kevin Stewart and Jack Dunn. They’ll all be heading with the Under 21s to Holland instead.

It’s unlikely that Rickie Lambert will feature, despite returning to training early this week.

The rest of The Reds World Cup players will fly out to America to begin their pre-season on Sunday.

The Opposition

Preston missed out on promotion to the Championship last season suffering the heartache of the play-offs again.

Manager Simon Grayson will have his eye firmly on automatic promotion this season.

“It is going to be a big test for us, as it was last year when we played them, obviously we are really thankful to Brendan coming back and bringing his team over at the weekend,” Grayson told PNE’s official website.

“It shows how they enjoyed their game last year in terms of the crowd, the pitch and how well we played against them as well that they were on the phone to try and come back and it’s great testament to our football club that we are managing to get Liverpool again.”

Preston kicked off their pre-season with a 3-2 win over Chorley in the week. Former Red John Welsh captains the Lillywhites.

Friday’s newspapers offer plenty of LFC rumours and reports – with quotes from Brendan Rodgers indicating that all money spent so far was lined up before Luis Suarez‘s departure.

COPENHAGEN, DENMARK - Wednesday, July 16, 2014: Liverpool's manager Brendan Rodgers during a preseason friendly match against Brøndby at Brøndby Stadion. (Pic by David Rawcliffe/Propaganda)

“The signings we have made have no relation to Luis going, absolutely – these were players that were always earmarked to come in,” Rodgers told reporters from The Echo, Times, Mail and Mirror.

That means that the £75 million from Suarez’s sale is still to be spent at Anfield.

“Luis going gives us the clout to go and spend more and we are getting the right type of player in,” explained Rodgers.

The manager warned though that players won’t just be signed for the sake of spending the money; it will only be spent if the right player can be brought in.

“We certainly won’t spend just for the sake of spending. It has to be the sort of player who is going to improve us.”

The players who are the leading names for arriving at Anfield this summer are Loic Remy, Ben Davies and Dejan Lovren – but the boss wants up to five new signings, in addition to the four who already arrived.

James Pearce writes of Liverpool’s increased interest in QPR forward Remy, with the player believed to have a £8 million release clause.

The Frenchman, who scored 14 goals on loan at Newcastle last season, would add depth to Liverpool’s forward options and also bring with him Champions League experience, having made 16 appearances, scoring four times, in the competition with Marseille.

On Lovren, Pearce writes “The Reds’ recent offer of around £20million for Lovren was rejected but the Croatia international remains desperate to make the move to Anfield.”

While Swansea left-back Davies is “also understood to favour joining Liverpool ahead of Tottenham, who are rivals for his signature.”

Meanwhile, a more speculative report in The Mirror claims Arturo Vidal, Paul Pogba and Marco Reus are on the club’s radar. Take that one with a pinch of salt.

Having spent just under £60 million on Rickie Lambert, Adam Lallana, Emre Can and Lazar Markovic this summer, Liverpool will spend well over £100 million come the end of the transfer window.

Brendan on signings of top player.

Brendan Rodgers is adamant Liverpool do not have a problem signing the best players after Alexis Sanchez rejected a move to Anfield - and he intends to keep on spending following the sale of Luis Suarez.

“Lots of players are really impressed by what we are doing as a club and really excited about coming to Liverpool. “It wasn&039;t due to a lack of ambition by the club. It was about where the player and his family wanted to choose to live. “He’s a fantastic player and would have suited us. His profile would have been great but it was not to be and we move on.”

Liverpool have money to spend in the transfer market after accepting Barcelona’s offer for Suarez, and Rodgers has already added Lazar Markovic, Emre Can, Adam Lallana and Rickie Lambert to his squad this summer for almost £60million. -skysport.

Brendan Rodgers says Liverpool have quickly moved on from missing out on signing Alexis Sanchez, who completed a move to Arsenal last week.

Football - Liverpool FC Preseason Tour 2014 - Brøndby IF v Liverpool FC

The Reds had hoped to lure Sanchez to Anfield as part of the deal which saw Luis Suarez move to Barcelona, but the Chilean international forward chose to live in London and join Arsenal.

“That was one where geography dictated where [Sanchez] wanted to go,” Rodgers is quoted in the Daily Mail as saying. “It was not lack of ambition from the club. The player and his family want to choose where to live.”

Liverpool have had a busy summer’s transfer window already, having brought in Rickie Lambert and Adam Lallana from Southampton, Emre Can from Bayer Leverkusen and Lazar Markovic from Benfica, all of whom were included in the squad for the forthcoming tour of the USA on Thursday.

And with the £75 million from the sale of Suarez in the kitty, more faces are expected to join Rodgers’ squad before the new season gets underway on Sunday, August 17th.

“Sanchez is a fantastic player and would have suited us; his profile would have been great but it was not to be and we move on.

“Lots of players are really impressed by what we are doing as a club and really excited about coming to Liverpool.”

And for the Arsenal fans reading this who have “accidentally” landed on a Liverpool fans’ site (go on, admit it, you’re obsessed), this one’s for you:

Rodgers said the club will also quickly move on from losing Suarez, and says they will be shrewd in the transfer market.

He continued, “Luis going gives us the clout to go and spend more and we are getting the right type of player in,’ said the Liverpool manager.

“We won’t spend just for the sake of spending — it has to be the sort of player who is going to improve us.”

The Liverpool Echo report on Thursday night that Liverpool’s summer spending could end up topping £100 million, with Loic Remy, Dejan Lovren and Ben Davies said to be top of the wishlist.

What shrewd signings would you like to see Liverpool make with the £75 million from the Suarez deal? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.

Liverpool’s interest in Manchester City defender Micah Richards has reignited with the Reds set to make a move for the 26-year-old, according to reports on Thursday.

MANCHESTER, ENGLAND - Wednesday, January 11, 2012: Manchester City's captain Micah Richards in action against Liverpool during the Football League Cup Semi-Final 1st Leg at the City of Manchester Stadium. (Pic by David Rawcliffe/Propaganda)

Richards has been linked with a move to Anfield for some time, having found it increasingly difficult to force his way into Man City’s team in recent years.

During 2013-14, the England international made just two league appearances all season for the Sky Blues. Prior to that, he made just seven league appearances in 2012-13.

The Daily Mirror’s James Nursey says Richards is in need of a fresh start and writes:

Now Richards is set to go and Brendan Rodgers wants to take the defender to Anfield in a cut-price deal.

Rodgers is attracted by Richards’ ability to play right-back and centre-back.

With Liverpool’s leaky defence last season letting in 50 goals, and few options in either full-back roles, Richards could well be a useful acquisition for Rodgers.

Richards has just one year left on his current deal at the Etihad Stadium, but City may be reluctant to sell to one of their title rivals.

Born in Birmingham, Richards grew up in Leeds, spending youth spells at Leeds Utd and Oldham, before joining Man City.

He made his first-team debut for City in October 2005 against Arsenal and became the England national team’s youngest ever defender in 2006.

Would you want Liverpool to sign RichardS? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
