The likes of Luis Suarez, Dirk Kurt and Xabi Alonso are set to return to Anfield for an All-Star charity match on 29th March.
The Liverpool FC Foundation is organising the match with proceeds raised going towards their community programmes as well as local charities Alder Hey Children’s Hospital, Claire House, Positive Futures, Centre 56 and Cash for Kids.
The match is being hailed as a farewell to Steven Gerrard, who will leave Liverpool for LA Galaxy at the end of the season.
Gerrard will take charge of one of the sides, whilst former vice-captain Jamie Carragher returns to manage the opposition.
A statement from the club on Thursday reads:
Player recruitment is well underway, and players confirmed include Luis Suarez, Fernando Torres, Pepe Reina, Dirk Kuyt, Xabi Alonso, Thierry Henry, John Terry and Didier Drogba, to name a few.
Current Reds first-team players who are not on international duty will also play some part, as well as some of the Academy‘s brightest stars, plus the club’s backroom staff will also be on hand to offer support.
A general sale will follow at 8:15am on Wednesday 11th March.

Brendan Rodgers hailed “a very good performance” as Liverpool continued their impressive run of form with a comprehensive 2-0 victory at home to Burnley in the Premier League on Wednesday night.
Goals from Jordan Henderson and Daniel Sturridge sunk the Clarets as Liverpool kept up the pressure on the top four with 10 games of the season left to play.
“Burnley have shown this season that they’re a tough team to break down, but I thought my players were outstanding tonight,” Rodgers told BBC Sport.
“Defensively we were very strong, limiting their opportunities and keeping a clean sheet.
“We were exciting and a threat going forward and probably should have scored more than two. Our movement, touch and technique in the vital areas was very good.”
Liverpool now turn their attentions to Sunday’s FA Cup clash against Blackburn Rovers at Anfield. Kick-off is 4pm.

Liverpool beat Burnley 2-0 on Wednesday evening, as goals from Jordan Henderson and Daniel Sturridge earned Brendan Rodgers‘ side all three points at Anfield.
Liverpool 2-0 Burnley
Premier League – Anfield – Wednesday, 4th March 2015
Goals: Henderson (29), Sturridge (51)
Pre-match
Rodgers made just one change from the team that beat Manchester City 2-1 on Sunday, as Liverpool looked to consolidate that win with three points against Burnley.
Sturridge came in for Lazar Markovic, with Raheem Sterling occupying the Serb’s right wing-back role. It was an extremely attacking line-up.
First-half
Sturridge almost scored within seconds of the kick-off, having linked up well with Sterling, but was thwarted expertly by Tom Heaton.
Henderson tested Heaton from the edge of the box in the 24th minute, while Sturridge almost stole in after an under-cooked header back from Michael Keane.
Four minutes later it was 1-0 though, and it was another tremendous strike from Henderson. The 24-year-old thundered home a superb half-volley in front of the Kop, not dissimilar to Steven Gerrard‘s against Olympiakos all those years ago. Rodgers’ side’s dominance had paid off.
Philippe Coutinho almost added to his recent stunning strikes against Bolton, Southampton and City, but his effort curled inches wide.
The impressive Heaton made a great stop to deny Sturridge just before half-time, and it was Henderson’s fabulous goal that separated the two sides at the break.
Second-half
Six minutes into the second-half Liverpool’s lead was doubled. A superb ball by Henderson found the below-par Sturridge, and the 25-year-old finished clinically at the Anfield Road end.
Reported Reds target Danny Ings was a little unfortunate not to get a penalty after a tug by Henderson, and Ashley Barnes shot just wide soon after.
Terrific work from Adam Lallana eventually saw his shot blocked by Jason Shackell, while the impressive Sterling shot straight at Heaton.
The game meandered towards its conclusion in the end, as Liverpool gained three comfortable points in their quest for a top-four finish. It’s now nine league wins in their last 11 games.
Liverpool: Mignolet, Can, Skrtel, Lovren, Henderson, Allen, Moreno (Toure 72), Lallana, Sterling (Lambert 90), Coutinho, Sturridge (Johnson 83).
Subs not used: Ward, Balotelli, Williams, Markovic.
Burnley starting XI: Heaton, Trippier, Keane, Shackell, Mee, Kightly, Jones, Arfield, Boyd, Barnes, Ings.
Attendance: 44,717
Referee: Lee Mason
