Raheem Sterling 'should stay at Anfield' according to Jordan Henderson

Raheem Sterling 'should stay at Anfield' according to Jordan Henderson

Jordan Henderson hopes his Liverpool and England colleague Raheem Sterling will commit his immediate future to Anfield.

Sterling’s contract dispute with the club continues, with the 20-year-old refusing to sign a new deal.

Manchester City and Arsenal are just two clubs linked with signing him this summer, but Henderson is keen for the forward to remain on Merseyside.

Henderson said: "He's obviously left his future to whoever's representing him in regards to what he wants to do.

"But for me, Raheem Sterling is a fantastic player. He's been brilliant for England and I hope he will stay at Liverpool."

Henderson has also defended Sterling in light of the negative press he has received in recent weeks, adding: "One thing I love about him is that he's a great person and a great lad.

"He's getting a lot of criticism because of the contract situation but he's first-class as a person. All the lads love him whether it's with England or Liverpool.

"He's a great professional. His work ethic is fantastic. He works as hard as he can and wants to improve all the time."

As for Liverpool’s signing of James Milner on a free transfer, the former Sunderland midfielder said: “His attitude on and off the field is first class. You know you'll get energy from him.

"He's a quality player. I watched a lot of City players last year and he contributes a lot with assists and goals. He's got a lot of ability. And he does a lot of the dirty work as well. I look forward to playing with him next season."

Matchday ticket prices at Anfield have been frozen

Matchday ticket prices at Anfield have been frozen

Liverpool have frozen general admission match day ticket prices for the 2015-16 Premier League season.

The club had set up a ticketing working group, including members of Official Supporters Committee, Spion Kop 1906 and Spirit Of Shankly, to look at the affordability of tickets at Anfield.

They had already announced a 10 per cent reduction in season ticket prices for juniors and a price freeze on all adult general admission season tickets for next season.

The working group has met on three occasions and already come up with a number of initiatives, although prices for the season starting in August were the priority.

Liverpool chief executive Ian Ayre said: "Following our recent announcement to freeze general admission season ticket prices and reduce junior season ticket prices, we are now pleased to announce a freeze on all general admission match day ticket prices for next season.

"We have worked in collaboration with the ticketing work group as we look at practical initiatives to increase accessibility and affordability of tickets at Anfield.

"We now have an opportunity with the Main Stand expansion providing increased capacity for the 2016-17 season to explore further ticketing initiatives with the group.”

Bob Humphries, chairman of the LFC Supporters' Committee and member of the ticketing working group, said: “We are pleased to see that the club has listened to our concerns about ticket prices and have, at least in the short term, agreed to change their proposals and freeze prices to allow us time to work with them to find solutions.

“In the coming months we will be meeting to discuss pricing in the new stadium and making it more affordable and accessible for current supporters and for the future generations of young supporters.”

Mike Marsh (c) leaves position as Liverpool first team coach

Mike Marsh (c) leaves position as Liverpool first team coach

Liverpool first team coach Mike Marsh has left Anfield following the club’s end-of-season review.

Marsh, whose contract was up at the end of the campaign, was informed it would not be renewed after talks between manager Brendan Rodgers, chairman Tom Werner and director Mike Gordon.

The 45-year-old made over 100 appearances for the club between 1989 and 1993 - an FA Cup victory in 1992 the highlight of his career - before moving on to play for West Ham, Galatasaray and Southend.

He returned to the club in a coaching capacity at Liverpool’s academy in 2009 and became manager of the club’s U18 side in 2011.

A year later, Marsh became first-team coach following Rodgers’ appointment in the summer of 2012.

Liverpool will replace Marsh in due course, but goalkeeping coach John Achterberg, whose position had looked uncertain, will continue in his current role.

Raheem Sterling: Liverpool will not sell to United

Raheem Sterling: Liverpool will not sell to United

Liverpool will not sell Raheem Sterling to Manchester United, Sky sources understand.

Liverpool insist Sterling is not for sale, to United or any other club, but with the England winger set on leaving Anfield, a large bid may test their resolve.

Reports on Friday suggested United were potentially interested on signing Sterling, and that Sterling is open to the idea of becoming the first Liverpool player since Allenby Chilton in 1938 to swap Anfield for Old Trafford.

But Sky sources understand that there is no way Liverpool will entertain selling one of their prized assets to their bitter rivals.

Sterling has turned down a £100,000 a week contract offer from Liverpool. There is no shortage of interest from home and abroad since it became clear he wants to leave.

United, Manchester City, Arsenal and Real Madrid have all been linked with him.

Stevan Jovetic: Could leave Manchester City for Inter Milan

Inter Milan are considering a move for Manchester City striker Stevan Jovetic this summer, the club's sporting director has confirmed.

Jovetic is one of a number of players tipped to leave City this summer having started only nine games in the Premier League this season.

Liverpool are reported to be interested in the Montenegro international, but Inter could be ready to offer the former Fiorentina man the chance to return to Italy.

"There are many players that we are evaluating at this moment," Piero Ausilio said.

"Jovetic is one of them and I don't know whether Manchester City put him on the market or not.

"We need to bring in a few players. It's not a question of quantity, but of quality. They must be talented, useful and functional to the project."

Adam Bogdan: Bolton keeper linked with Liverpool

Adam Bogdan: Bolton keeper linked with Liverpool

Bolton goalkeeper Adam Bogdan has described reports he may join Liverpool as "mere speculation" but admitted he wants to play at the top level.

Bogdan has been linked with Liverpool as Brendan Rodgers seeks a new goalkeeper to challenge Simon Mignolet, but the 27-year-old is not paying too much attention to the rumours.

However, Bogdan is yet to respond to Bolton's offer of a new contract, according to the Bolton News, and has hinted he would like to join a top-flight club this summer.

"I am confident that soon will decide my fate," he told Nemzeti Sport.

"My goal is to play at a higher level, but it also depends on where you get a chance.

"We'll see, everything is decided in the next week or two."

Bogdan, also linked with Stoke, is currently Bolton's only senior goalkeeper, but Neil Lennon may move for Manchester United's Ben Amos on a free transfer if he loses his No.1 this summer.

Dani Alves: Could leave Barcelona for Manchester United

Dani Alves: Could leave Barcelona for Manchester United

Dani Alves to Manchester United, Mario Balotelli and Juan Cuadrado to AC Milan plus the latest on Raheem Sterling feature in Friday's papers.

BARCELONA FEAR ALVES EXIT

Barcelona are suspicious that Dani Alves may already have signed a pre-contract agreement with Manchester United, according to Spanish website Fichajes.net.

The Brazil right-back, 32, has been open in saying he will listen to offers and will not make a decision until after Saturday's Champions League final, but he has strongly hinted he will move on.

"I am with the team 200 per cent but with the board, about 10 per cent - as it is, I have one foot, half a body and almost my head out of the club," Alves said recently.

STERLING OPEN TO UNITED MOVE

Liverpool winger Raheem Sterling is open to a move to Manchester United, according to the Guardian, but concerned how the transfer would be received given the fierce rivalry between the clubs.

It has been claimed that Sterling would prefer a move to London, while Liverpool are said to have already ruled out doing business with their North-West rivals, but Sterling is said to be keen to explore the possibility of playing for Louis van Gaal.

The newspaper says a firm United offer for the 20-year-old could start a bidding war, with Manchester City and Real Madrid monitoring developments.

MILAN EYE BALOTELLI AND CUADRADO

Another Liverpool player that could leave Anfield this summer is Mario Balotelli, who Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport claims is among the targets of incoming AC Milan boss Sinisa Mihajlovic.

Mihajlovic reportedly tried to sign Balotelli for Sampdoria in January and is now interested in working with him at Milan, although Sampdoria's Stefano Okako and Pedro Obiang are also on his list of potential purchases.

Mihajlovic is also interested in Chelsea winger Juan Cuadrado, according to the Daily Star, with Jose Mourinho open to the idea of selling the Colombian just five months after signing him from Fiorentina.

Roma are also said to have enquired about the 27-year-old's availability.

AND THE REST

- Dick Advocaat will be handed a £50m transfer fund to revitalise Sunderland after agreeing to remain as manager of the Black Cats (Daily Mirror)

- Liverpool have received a fillip in their hopes of signing 23-year-old Sporting Lisbon keeper Rui Patricio after the Portuguese club signed Slovenian keeper Azbe Jug (Daily Express)

- Ashley Young, 29, is expected to sign a new three-year contract at Old Trafford next month (Daily Mirror)

Raheem Sterling: Linked with controversial move to Manchester United

Raheem Sterling: Linked with controversial move to Manchester United

Raheem Sterling is reportedly keen to make a controversial move to Manchester United as his Liverpool contract saga drags on.

Sterling has long been locked in new contract talks with Liverpool and turned down a new deal worth a reported £100,000 a week earlier this year.

And with the player seemingly in no hurry to reopen negotiations, his future at the club looks increasingly uncertain.

The Guardian claim the 20-year-old would like to play under Louis van Gaal, although he is worried about how the rivalry between the two sides would affect a transfer. No player has moved from Liverpool to United since Allenby Chilton in 1938, while no one has moved between the two clubs since 1964.

Sterling has been linked with Arsenal, Man City, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid so far this summer, but a move down the M62 would be the most controversial by far.

United had an enquiry for the England international rejected last month but reports on Thursday evening suggest the Red Devils were ready to return with a firm £25million bid.

It is claimed van Gaal is interested in Sterling due to his versatility and ability to fit into his preferred formation of 4-3-3. His speed is also thought to have caught the Dutchman's eye, with his side often criticised for their lack of pace over the past 12 months.

Sterling's current deal worth £35,000-a-week runs to 2017 and Liverpool have insisted they will hold him to those final two years, potentially costing him in excess of £7m in lost wages.

However, a firm bid in excess of £50m would test the Reds' resolve to hold on to the player.
