Barcelona sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta believes Luis Suarez has shown humility by apologising for his bite on Giorgio Chiellini during the World Cup.
Suarez waited seven days before using his Twitter account to apologise to Chiellini and "the entire football family" for his actions during Italy’s Group D match with Italy on June 24.
"Suarez has shown he is humble enough to admit an error, which is very important," Zubizaretta told reporters.
"He has been humble enough to apologise to those he has affected, because it happened in the middle of a festival of football. In this case it's the best thing a person can do."
Suarez has been heavily linked with a move to Barcelona and Zubizerreta, who was speaking at the Nou Camp as the club unveiled Ivan Rakitic, made no secret of his admiration for the Liverpool striker.
"Everyone knows that Luis is an excellent player," he said.
"Everyone knows last season he played in various positions in attack, but everyone also knows that he is a Liverpool player."
Sky Sports Spanish football pundit Guillem Balague believes Suarez had to apologise in order to secure his dream move to Barcelona.
"Barcelona wanted Luis Suarez to apologise," he said. "It is also part of an appeal that will surely reduce his ban.
"I realise many people feel cheated as he has apologised before. Biting shouldn’t be done but can be corrected and Chiellini has accepted the apology, so who are we not to do the same."
Croatian international midfielder Rakitic added: "The fact he has had the character and the strength to go in front of everyone and say sorry says a lot about him as a person.
"I rarely say that I am wrong so this says a lot about him, he has shown the character and strength he has so he should be commended for that.
"Regardless of whether the club signs him or not, his quality is unquestionable.
"He has shown a lot of quality with Uruguay and scored more than 30 goals (last season) with Liverpool, so he has the necessary quality to play for Barca."

A number of Premier League clubs are tracking French defender Sega Coulibaly, Sky Sports understands.
Coulibaly is highly-regarded in France and is rated as one of the best prospects in his homeland after coming through the ranks at Rennes.
The powerful central defender has represented France at all age levels from U16 to U18s and he has caught the eye for his country.
Coulibaly was a regular in Rennes' reserve team last season and he is expected to break into the first-team next season.
The likes of Newcastle and Liverpool are thought to have watched Coulibaly and they are keeping tabs on his progress as they weigh up moves to bring him to England.
Fiorentina and Sevilla are also chasing Coulibaly and although Rennes are determined to keep the teenager they are bracing themselves for offers for the defender.

Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe believes the windfall the club are to receive from Adam Lallana’s move from Southampton to Liverpool is vindication of the club’s policy of investing in young players.
The south-coast side will pocket a quarter of the reported £26m fee for Lallana after inserting a 25 per cent sell-on clause into the deal that took him to Southampton as a 12-year-old.
And Howe is delighted Bournemouth are able to reap the dividends of Lallana’s move to Merseyside.
“I think from our perspective it shows the importance of youth development and bringing young players through,” he told Sky Sports News.
“This club has always done it. If you look at recent history there’s been Danny Ings and Sam Vokes.
“Of course Adam didn’t make his way through because he left but it just goes to show that bringing young players through is the lifeblood of this club.
“People have put a lot of work into Adam at a young age. When you invest in young talent - we get them in at six or seven like most clubs do nowadays - the work we do with them is key
“From our perspective we didn’t plan for this so any potential money would be gratefully received but it will be up to the owner to decide what he does with it.”
Howe added: “I think he is an exceptional player. I’ve worked with him and I know him as a guy and what a first-class individual he is.
“He’s done brilliantly for Southampton and I’m sure he’ll do really well for Liverpool.”
Bournemouth academy scout Terry Wateridge admitted Lallana’s talent was evident at a young age.
“He just had such ability and we all loved him,” Wateridge said.
“He’s a natural and he had such unbelievably quick feet and incredible balance. Because he was never very big and had a low centre of gravity he drifted by players as if they didn’t exist much the same way he does now.
“Even now it’s quite strange to see him play and thinking all those years ago he was this little lad who turned up at training at Bournemouth Football Club.”

Neil Poole has become accustomed to a threadbare Liverpool squad in recent years and is finding it hard to cope with the prospect of a Liverpool team that will have options next season. Here, he talks it through with the group to find a solution.
I’ve been coming to LFC Anonymous for a while. This is really hard, but it’s time for me to share…
My name is Neil. I support Liverpool FC. I’ve been institutionalised.
[The group smile sadly, nodding their heads in heads in empathy]
The panic has set in over the last few days. Brendan Rodgers is personally counting on me to work out where on earth we can fit new signing, Adam Lallana, into a team that already features fan favourites Sterling and Coutinho. Talk of further targets such as Sanchez and Markovic who can ‘play across the front three or at the tip of the diamond’ (™Every LFC scouting report written in the last 6 months) have me pacing back and forward in my cell, nervously contemplating the prospect of qualitative and quantitative liberation.
The first step on the road to recovery is admitting you have a problem:
I have a problem. Judging by what I’ve read, this may include you too…
However, the issue isn’t how we fit the £25 million Lallana or other targets into the team; The problem is that the very questioning of the acquisition of Lallana on the basis that we already have quality options in the final third demonstrates we’ve been institutionalised during our time out of the Champions League.
Like the prisoner who becomes comforted by the safety of routine and struggles with the loss of limitation upon release, we’ve become a little bit to used to having less. Less players, less football, less tournaments.
We’re not on our own. English football is awash with irrational behaviour induced by confinement. Currently, the football media and grown men from Peterborough dressed in standard issue Crusades regalia suffer from Stockholm syndrome; thanking Roy Hodgson for kidnapping and holding hostage to their sense of hope and ambition.
For eleven years Evertonians similarly thanked their captor, David Moyes, as he kept their aspirations and seemingly their eyesight imprisoned in an underground concrete bunker; you may know this as the Lower Bullens. Pity the poor wretches for their suffering and miserable existence.
The football of Liverpool FC has been confined in an altogether different way. The lack of options on the pitch are not the consequence of a lack of courage or ideas from the manager, but instead by a lack of resources. A combination of poor transfer dealings and the financial restraints of the post Hicks and Gillett, have left Liverpool’s squad with as much depth as Wayne Rooney’s Book of Thoughts and Feelings…coming soon to a comic shop near you.
Adam Lallana looks to be one of a number of solutions this summer.
Whether he is good enough, whether he is overpriced, whether the money could be spent elsewhere, you can make your judgement now or wait and see. But maybe we can at least agree that as a benchmark he is a decent player who is better than nobody. If this is the case there are clearly benefits to his appointment and any other who may fill a hole that we don’t actually think isn’t there.
Lallana has been pitched by many as direct competition to Sterling and Coutinho. Good! Sky Sports may get a bit daft with comparison graphics menacingly threatening the vulnerable duo with inferences of, ‘Your days are numbered lads. Lallana’s got one more assist and a 0.5% better pass completion than you. You can’t live with that shit.’
Nonetheless, there should be real competition and they need to deal with it. Sink or swim. We’ve all taken Coutinho and Sterling to our hearts. I’d carry the little fellas around in my pocket if I could and let them out now and again when I was feeling down to entertain me with keepie uppies and stepovers. But there’s no room for sentiment if we want to challenge for the league again. Last season the second choice for a number of positions was so poor that the alternative wasn’t even the third best solution.
Take Glen Johnson who somehow turned into Liverpool’s appendix last season; completely useless but still able to take you to an early grave. At best, the lack of competition did nothing to kick him out of his stupor and at the worst it has contributed to it. Arguably Coutinho and Sterling were at their most effective last season in the 11 game unbeaten run when they were often used interchangeably. A combination of healthy competition and the ability to rest either paid dividends during this run.
Indeed, it is paramount that we preserve the two youngsters for the long term. You only have to look at the likes of Robbie Fowler, Michael Owen and Wayne Rooney to see what happens to a player when they are run into the ground at early age and effectively burnt out by their mid twenties. We will play a bare minimum of 46 games next season and will be back into the fray of twice weekly games. There will be plenty of opportunities for deserving members of the squad to figure in a significant numbers throughout the campaign.
All of this doesn’t even take into account that with the flexible tactical approach of Rodgers and the licence that he gives players to interchange that Lallana, Coutinho and Sterling can all feasibly play in the starting eleven anyway. With Rodgers affinity for dynamism taken into account it’s clear to see why he is looking beyond Lallana. It’s all about choices. On the pitch. Off the bench.
If we can translate this approach to recruitment to our defence as well, we will hopefully be entering the new season with our most efficient squad in years where the whole will be greater than the sum of its parts.
The old football cliché is when there’s two good players to choose between it’s a good problem for the manager to have. Hopefully we can enter the new season , embracing rather than fearing the lack of limitation and happily declare, Liverpool, we have a problem.
The group, tears in their eyes, clap as they see a member of their group cured in front of their very eyes.

WhoScored take a look at five World Cup stars, including Alexis Sanchez, Mario Mandzukic and Bruno Martins Indi, linked with moves to England.
The World Cup represents the chance for players to join the archives of legends to have graced the game on the biggest stage. It's also an opportunity to put yourself in the shop window, with the scouts of all of the biggest clubs in Europe sure to have a watching brief.
While the football continues to excite and the goals continue to flow, so to do the gossip columns, with a number of those on show at this summer's showcase having been linked with a move to or within the Premier League.
In this piece WhoScored.com look at a handful of players that, upon their return from the World Cup, could be making the move to England.
Alexis Sanchez
With Luis Suarez again making the headlines for all of the wrong reasons, Liverpool have been hit with the news that a third ban of his career imposed for biting an opponent will keep the forward out of their opening 14 games of the season in all competitions.
Rumours continued to circulate prior to the Uruguayan's moment of madness that a move to Barcelona was on the cards, with Alexis Sanchez potentially being used as a makeweight in the deal.
Though it has been confirmed that Suarez can still transfer away from Anfield despite his suspension from FIFA, the Reds are thought to be keen on the Chilean regardless.
Why wouldn't they be? On the back of an excellent goalscoring campaign in La Liga in which he netted 19 times and picked up 10 assists, Sanchez has starred for a side that thrilled fans before their exit.
With a WhoScored.com rating of 8.17 in his four World Cup appearances, the forward scored twice and picked up assist but couldn't prevent Chile's exit at the hands of holders Brazil, missing in the penalty shoot-out.
However, Sanchez has completed more dribbles than any other player at the World Cup at the time of writing (22), while his threat was evident in the fact that no player has been fouled more times (24).
Mario Mandzukic
Another man linked with a move away from one of Europe's powerhouses is Mario Mandzukic, who looks set to be frozen out at Bayern Munich due to the signing of Robert Lewandowski.
The Dortmund forward was the only Bundesliga player to net more goals than the Croatian last season (18), so the fact that he's on the radar of Arsenal and Chelsea should come as no surprise.
The target man exhibited his abilities in an excellent performance against Cameroon in the group stages, scoring twice from four shots and winning five aerial duels to earn WhoScored.com's man of the match award, with a rating of 9.20.
Serge Aurier
Also heavily linked with a move to the capital this summer, Ivory Coast's Serge Aurier did his reputation no harm whatsoever despite the Africans' early exit.
The right-back emerged as the highest rated player (7.65) in his position during the group stages according to WhoScored, continuing his excellent form from Ligue 1 with Toulouse.
The defender picked up two assists in his three appearances, which is something that only two players could better in the previous phase, whilst also averaging 2.7 tackles and three interceptions per game.
Bruno Martins Indi
One of a number of Dutch players linked with a move to Manchester United following the confirmation of Louis van Gaal's appointment, effective after the World Cup, Bruno Martins Indi's has had an eventful World Cup campaign, including injury and, at times, ill-discipline.
The centre-back, nevertheless, proved his quality as part of a solid back three that kept the holders Spain at bay - bar a Xabi Alonso penalty - in a thrilling opening encounter.
The fact that United are being linked to centre-backs is no shock given the departures of the old guard (Ferdinand and Vidic).
After a season that saw him play at both centre and left-back with Feyenoord, earning an averaging rating from WhoScored.com of 7.00 in the process, Martins Indi's versatility would certainly come in handy.
Enner Valencia
Perhaps the most unheralded and unheard of out of the five here prior to the World Cup, Enner Valencia gave English fans a glimpse of his ability scoring an impressive header in a pre-tournament friendly against the Three Lions.
His aerial threat in the box has been evident in the finals too, despite standing at just over 5'8", with an exceptional leap in his armoury.
The 25-year-old's pace and finishing ability has also caught the eye as he netted three times in Ecuador's opening two matches, recording a conversion rate of 37.5% and WhoScored.com rating of 7.50 in turn.
There's always one player that emerges out of the blue from a major international tournament, and with Tottenham and Everton both touted with an interest, that man could be Enner Valencia this time around.

Adam Lallana ketika menjalani ujian kesihatan dengan Dr Zaf.
Liverpool have completed the signing of England midfielder Adam Lallana from Southampton.
The 26-year-old, who was named in the PFA Team of the Year last season and in England’s World Cup squad, signs for a reported fee of £23 million.
Lallana enjoyed an impressive campaign for Southampton last season, scoring nine goals and assisting six. He’s a versatile player who can operate in any of the attacking roles; left, right or central.
Lallana will wear squad number 20 at Liverpool. The player told the official LFC website “I’ve been granted my wish to play at such a fantastic club, in Champions League football and competing for Premier League titles.”
The St. Albans born player is also an excellent player at pressing opponents high up the pitch, something which is crucial within Brendan Rodgers‘ system.
Adding depth to Liverpool’s options, Lallana will also mean that youngsters Raheem Sterling, 19, and Philippe Coutinho, 22, will not be over relied upon as The Reds return to Champions League football in 2014/15.
Lallana is Liverpool’s third confirmed signing of the summer, following his teammate Rickie Lambert who arrived for £4 million in May, and Germany under-21 midfielder Emre Can who signed for around £10 million from Bayer Leverkusen. More signings are expected in a busy summer at Anfield.
Let us know your thoughts on Lallana below.
