Radja Nainggolan in action for Belgium against Wales last week

Radja Nainggolan in action for Belgium against Wales last week

Roma coach Rudi Garcia says he is hopeful highly-rated midfielder Radja Nainggolan will still be at the club next season.

The 27-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League with Manchester United and Liverpool thought to be interested.

However, the Serie A side are keen to acquire Nainggolan outright this summer and are seeking an agreement with Cagliari, who part-own the player’s sporting rights.

Garcia told magazine France Football: “Nainggolan is a true force of nature. He's got an exceptional mentality and a winning character. He is a leader and I'm counting on him for next season.”

Nainggolan made 30 league starts for Roma last season and scored five times, as they finished second in the table, behind Juventus, to qualify for next season's Champions League.

Having originally arrived in Italy in 2005 to play for Piacenza Calcio, he moved on to Cagliari in 2010.

He went on to join Roma on loan in January 2014 and the team from the Italian capital have him under contract until June 2018, having purchased 50 per cent of his registration rights last summer.

Burnley manager Sean Dyche has backed striker Danny Ings to be a success when he completes his move to new club Liverpool.

Ings will officially join Brendan Rodgers’ side on July 1, subject to a medical, when his contract at Turf Moor expires.

Burnley have rejected the initial compensation fee offered by Liverpool, which the Sky Bet Championship side are due for helping develop the player as Ings is under 24, and a Premier League Compensation Committee may have to become involved.

Dyche admits it is a big move for the England U21 international but feels the experience he gained in the top flight with Burnley last season, when he scored 11 goals in 37 appearances, could prove crucial.

Ings’ goals were not enough to help keep them in the Premier League but Dyche believes he is going to a club that will help nurture his talent.

“It’s a big jump,  not so much as a footballer, as he played in the Premier League last season, but the fact they are a big, historic club, although Burnley are as well,” Dyche told Sky Sports News HQ.

“But the grandeur of Liverpool, the physical size of it and the fan presence there, whether they will take to him and he can get off and running, whether he can deliver performances (will all be factors).

“I’m confident he can be a success but there is a settling-in period with a new club but hopefully he will be in a good environment and be successful there.”

Louis van Gaal: Easiest run-in of the Premier League title challengers?

Louis van Gaal: Easiest run-in of the Premier League title challengers?

Manchester United and Liverpool appear to have the easiest run-in's of the six most likely Premier League title challengers – with Manchester City facing the toughest.

Arsenal will not be unhappy with their last six fixtures either after today's announcement, with the away trip to Manchester City in the penultimate game their biggest challenge.

We attached a value to each team the top six are playing based on where they finished in the Premier League table last season. The three promoted teams were all given a value of 18.  We do not however take into account whether the match is home or away.

United face Tottenham away on April 9 next year (fixtures may of course be moved), but their last five games see them face Aston Villa (H), West Ham (A), Leicester (H), Norwich (A) and they end with Bournemouth visiting Old Trafford on the final day. United's 'opposition points total' is 85, four clear of Liverpool on 81

Liverpool have a tough start to the campaign - their first seven away matches are daunting - but if they can stay in contention until April, they can look at the last six fixtures with some confidence. The have Stoke (H), Bournemouth (A), Newcastle (H), Swansea (A), Watford (H) and West Brom (A).

Manchester City face West Brom at the Etihad Stadium on April 9, then go to Chelsea in what already looks like a potentially pivotal match of the season the following week. Then it’s Stoke (H), Southampton (A), Arsenal (H) and Swansea (A) - all potential banana skins. City's opposition total is 41, eight points 'harder' than the next toughest run-in - Tottenham's - on 49.

Champions Chelsea have a mixed bag. They go to Swansea on April 9, before that crunch showdown with Manchester City at Stamford Bridge. Then it's Bournemouth (A), Spurs (H), Sunderland (A) before concluding their season at home to Leicester.

The top six - from the 'easiest' run in to the hardest.

Brendan Rodgers: Faces tough away run at the start of the new season

Brendan Rodgers: Faces tough away run at the start of the new season

With a positive start to the season crucial, Liverpool face a run of fixtures that could make or break their top four hopes.

In the first seven away fixtures, Brendan Rodgers’ men will have to make tricky-looking trips to Stoke, Arsenal, Manchester United, Everton, Tottenham, Chelsea, Manchester City.

Such a run could see the pressure mount on Rodgers should the Reds suffer defeats against their rivals, all before the start of December - and while Rodgers has been backed by the club's board after 'positive talks' he has already lost assistant Colin Pascoe and first-team coach Mike March from his backroom staff.

Winnable home matches sandwich those tough encounters, but with the heat on after failing to qualify for the 2015/16 Champions League, those supposed easier matches could see the Reds come unstuck.

The Red lost 6-1 at Stoke on the final day of last season while they took just five points from a possible 18 from the other six games with their only win from the corresponding fixtures a 3-0 win at Tottenham in August.

Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher took to Twitter to light-heartedly mock the imposing set of fixtures:  “Didn't think Sky had a say in the fixtures but @GNev2 must have been involved in picking Liverpool's first 7 away games.”

Jordan Henderson has admitted he is ready for 'more responsibility' at Liverpool, and has targeted a trophy for the fans next season.

Henderson is the favourite to take over the captain's armband from Steven Gerrard at Anfield, having fulfilled his role as vice-captain last season.

Gerrard's departure for MLS means the Reds must replace their skipper of 12 years, and it's a task which former Sunderland midfielder Henderson insists he is ready to tackle head on.

"I've always wanted to take more responsibility, especially at the stage of my career I'm at," he told Goal.

"I feel I'm getting a bit older now, a bit more mature and of course I want to take more responsibility for the team but at the same time, I think it's up to all of us as a team to take more responsibility on the pitch and make sure we put in good performances.

"When I've been vice-captain I've just tried to do my best for the team as I always have and to learn as much as I can from Stevie, like I have from when I first came to the club. But we've got a lot of captains and a lot of leaders in the dressing room so I'm sure whoever he [Rodgers] picks, the lads will be right behind him.

"I've think I've learned a lot from Steven. I have from when I first came to the club, he's been a huge role model and leader to all of us. All of us have learned a lot from him; just being with him every day, training with him every day, you learn a lot from him."

The 25-year-old acknowledges that Gerrard's departure leaves a huge void at Liverpool not only in midfield, but in the dressing room. However, he has backed the club to pull together in his absence and bounce back from their disappointing sixth place finish last season.

"I think it'll be a big loss, not only as a player but as a person off the field. He's our leader so again he's going to be a huge loss but we need to make sure that the same thing doesn't happen as last season.

"We need to start well. We've got a good group of young players here who I feel have got a lot of potential and will do a lot of good things. So hopefully we have a good pre-season and start the season well.

"All of us will be disappointed with the season. Especially getting to two semi-finals and being close to qualifying for the Champions League.

"I think we can be disappointed that we haven't achieved the things we wanted to at the start of the season, but we need to make sure we learn from this season and improve all the time and next season we'll do better.

"At the start of the season we didn't start very well. The first few months sort of killed us, really, in terms of our flow and getting our momentum.

"Around the Christmas period and for a few months after that we hit a bit of form and we were unbeaten for a few months. Towards the end of the season I don't think we've been as good as we can be.

"It has been stop-start, so we have to make sure we improve on the things we have to improve on and also keep doing the things we've been doing well."

Henderson also outlined the club's ambitions heading into the 2015/16 season, with delivering their first trophy since the Capital One Cup in 2012 top of that particular list.

"We're good enough to be challenging in the Champions League but I think also winning a trophy will be one of our ambitions next season," he said. "I think we're good enough to go and win a trophy and and that's what the fans really deserve and this club deserves.

"I think we've got a great group of players with a lot of potential, young players who are hungry and want to improve and do better. I think we've got a great chance next season to show people how good we are as a team."

Liverpool begin their 2015/16 Premier League campaign at Stoke

Liverpool begin their 2015/16 Premier League campaign at Stoke City as well as facing newly-promoted Bournemouth at home and Arsenal at the Emirates in August.

Brendan Rodgers’ side, who lost 6-1 at the Britannia Stadium on the final day of last season, travel to Manchester United on September 12.

The first Merseyside derby of the season comes at the start of October with a visit to Goodison Park, before they take on champions Chelsea at Stamford Bridge at the end of that month.

Liverpool host Leicester City on Boxing Day, before both Arsenal and United come to Anfield in January 2016, as do Everton for the second Merseyside derby of the campaign the following month.

And the Reds also entertain Chelsea in March, before concluding their season with a trip to the Hawthorns to play West Bromwich Albion.

Chelsea want Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in exchange for Petr Cech, Man City have targeted Fabian Delph and Liverpool want another Man Utd target.

CHELSEA WANT OX FOR CECH

Jose Mourinho is not going to let Arsenal have it all their own way over signing Petr Cech.

Days after it was claimed that Chelsea wanted a homegrown player in return for the Czech goalkeeper, The Mirror and The Sun both report that the Blues want Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, with The Sun saying Mourinho could submit a bid for the 21-year-old regardless of Cech's eventual destination.

Chelsea are keen to satisfy Cech's wishes but Mourinho is reluctant to strengthen a major rival without getting anything in return. Arsenal, however, are hopeful of securing a £10million cash deal for the Blues' number two stopper.

Cech's replacement could be either Rob Green or Asmir Begovic, says the Daily Mail, while The Telegraph claims Chelsea will submit an £8million bid for Stoke's Begovic, who will have to decide whether he would be content with a place on Mourinho's bench.

CITY TARGET DELPH

Jack Rodwell, Adam Johnson, Scott Sinclair... Fabian Delph?

The Telegraph reports that the England midfielder has been added to Manchester City's list of summer targets, despite Delph having signed a new Aston Villa deal only in January.

City are keen on a midfielder, preferably one to tick the homegrown box, and with Jack Wilshere seemingly unlikely to be tempted away from Arsenal, Manuel Pellegrini is looking elsewhere.

LIVERPOOL'S FIRMINO INTEREST

Liverpool are hoping to secure the services of Brazil international Roberto Firmino from under the noses of Manchester United.

The Hoffenheim midfielder has been strongly linked with a move to Old Trafford this summer for a fee of anywhere between £13-22million and the 23-year-old's agent admits England will be his destination. But Brendan Rodgers is hoping to ruin United's plans and is showing a "strong interest", according to The Mirror.

Firmino is the third big name this summer to atteact the interest of the Manchester and Merseyside rivals. United won the race for Memphis Depay (after which Rodgers claimed he was never interested anyway) while Liverpool are very keen on Red Devils target Nathaniel Clyne, who The Mirror say will cost more than the £12million that the Anfield transfer committee is currently prepared to offer.

AND THE REST

Swansea and Crystal Palace are leading the chase for Loic Remy, who is likely to leave Chelsea following the loan signing of Radamel Falcao.

Galatasary want Lukas Podolski from Arsenal and Spurs striker Roberto Soldado.

Ryan Babel could be on his way back to the Premier League with Swansea. The ex-Liverpool winger, 28, is currently plying his trade in Turkey with Kasimpasa.

Sunderland have made an £8m offer for Leeds United defender Sam Byram.

West Brom boss Tony Pulis is closing in on a £7m deal for QPR winger Matty Phillips.

QPR will not let Charlie Austin go for anything less than £15million this summer.

Aston Villa are leading the race to sign Charlton's Jordan Cousins, with Liverpool and Newcastle also keen.

Sunderland will loan Carl Jenkinson for the season from Arsenal after agreeing a £2m loan fee.

Arsenal are plotting an audacious move for Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema.

Burnley right-back Kieran Trippier will have a medical at Tottenham on Wednesday ahead of a £3.5m move.
