Liverpool City Council has revealed arrangements for an open-top bus victory parade should Liverpool win the Premier League this Sunday.

Brendan Rodgers‘ side go into their final day game at home to Newcastle Utd, needing a win and Manchester City to lose against West Ham to clinch a last-gasp league title win.

Due to logistics and safety issues, the council have been forced to announce potential plans before the title race has been resolved.

The parade would take place on Monday, 12th May, starting at 5pm, with roads along the route being closed from 3pm.

Starting at the junction of West Derby Road and Green Lane, the bus would continue towards the city centre:

  • Islington

  • Hunter Street

  • Leeds Street

  • King Edward Street

  • The Strand

  • Wapping / Chaloner Street

The council have urged safety advice to the hundreds of thousands of fans that would be expected to attend the parade, should Liverpool end the season victoriously.

The Liverpool Echo say the council urges fans and spectators to:

  • Utilise the full length of the route. There will be no central focal point to the parade and the bus will not be stopping along the way.

  • Decide in advance which part of the route to wait at and arrive in plenty of time.

  • Be patient – it is impossible to predict how long it will take the team bus to travel along the route.

  • Due to the number of people coming in and out of the city, it is anticipated there will be long queues for public transport.

Liverpool v Newcastle and Man City v West Ham both kick-off at 3pm this Sunday, 11th May and both are live on Sky Sports in the UK.

Liverpool’s value has risen, while Man United’s has fallen in the last year according to the Forbes Football Rich List.

LIVERPOOL, ENGLAND - Saturday, November 5, 2011: Liverpool take on Swansea City during the Premiership match at Anfield. (Pic by David Rawcliffe/Propaganda)

Liverpool remain tenth in the list from last year, but their value has risen 6 percent.

Meanwhile, Man United have dropped from second to third, with their value down 11 percent.

Liverpool are valued at $691 million (£407 million, according to The Daily Mail).

The figures are quoted according to accounts for 2012-13, meaning Liverpool’s stock will only rise further in the coming years.

Qualification for the Champions League this season for the first time since 2009 will be a major boost to Liverpool’s finances.

Further improvements will arrive from the continued shirt sponsor and manufacturer deal with Standard Chartered and Warrior, worth £47 million per season combined.

Liverpool have also announced a new deal with Garuda Indonesia which will see them sponsor the club’s training kit, as well as further ties with Dunkin Donuts, Subway and others recently.

The eventual expansion of Anfield, to be completed by 2018, will add further financial improvements for Liverpool, adding another 14,000 seats to the capacity and thus increasing their matchday revenue.

The future looks like, as FSG have always insisted, Liverpool being sustainable and in a healthy financial position.

Raheem Sterling has paid tribute to the talents of his teammates, namely Daniel Sturridge and Luis Suarez in helping him improve as a footballer.

Sterling’s rise in the second-half of the 2013/14 season to become one of the best-performing and most important players in Liverpool’s first-team has been nothing short of phenomenal.

And at just 19-years-old, Liverpool are looking ahead to many more years of exciting development with the England international.

On collecting his Young Player of the Year award at the club’s end of season awards gala earlier this week, Sterling said his improvement was down to studying the players around him and the spirit in the Reds’ camp.

“It’s been a great season for us and I think everyone has worked really hard as a group,” he is quoted on the club’s official website as saying.

“There’s a real togetherness in the squad and I’m just glad to be a part of this great football club. On a personal level, at the start of the season I wasn’t playing much, but it’s been a real learning curve for me.

“To be able to sit back and learn from the boys, people like Dan and Luis, has been important. To improve my game, I needed to get into the box and score some goals and there are no two better players to learn from than them.”

Sterling has scored nine goals in 32 Premier League appearances this season, and created 48 chances for his teammates, according to Squawka.

He added, “I really tried to learn my game and I want to thank Brendan and all the staff for helping me to get to where I am today.”

Luis Suarez enjoyed a good night at the award ceremony too, scooping the players’ player, supporters’ player and goal of the season awards. For the full list of winners, see here.

Suarez, Sterling and Liverpool are now looking ahead to the final game of the season at home to Newcastle Utd this Sunday. A culmination of a Liverpool win and Manchester City defeat would see the Premier League title return to Merseyside.

Menurut Bleacher Report , Steven Gerrard menyarankan Pengurus Liverpool Brenden Rodgers membeli beberapa pemain yang bertaraf Bintang seandainya Rodgers ingin mendakap trofi EPL musim hadapan nanti .

"Saya masih mempunyai kenyakinan yang penuh terhadap keupayaan pemain Liverpool untuk menyaingi perebutan Liga . Namun realistiknya kita perlu lakukan pelaburan apabila perpindahan musim panas tiba nanti . Pelaburan tersebut juga secara tidak langsung membolehkan pemain baru dan pemain sedia ada bersaing untuk menunjukkan keupayaan mereka untuk bersaing kesebelasan utama juga .

Manchester City beat Aston Villa 4-0 on Wednesday night to take hold of the Premier League title race from Liverpool.

Edin Dzeko’s right footed shot, converting a Pablo Zabaleta low cross on 64 minutes opened the scoring at a rain-soaked Etihad Stadium.

Dzeko was on hand to tap home again eight minutes later to double Man City’s lead, Stevan Joveti? added a third late on, before Yaya Toure powered through the Villa defence for a fourth deep into injury time.

The result means City leapfrog Liverpool into first place, now needing just a point on the last day of the season to clinch the title, barring a record Reds win over Newcastle, requiring a 13 goal margin. A win for City would win the league.

City face West Ham at home on Sunday whilst Liverpool take on Newcastle Utd at Anfield.

The Reds will be hoping former players Stewart Downing and Andy Carroll can pull off the biggest of favours.

A win for Liverpool and defeat for City would swing the title Liverpool’s way.

The title is now out of third-placed Chelsea’s reach, and Liverpool would almost certainly secure second-place with a draw this weekend.

Elsewhere in the Premier League on Wednesday night, Sunderland secured their top-flight survival with a 2-0 win at home to West Brom.

Liverpool’s on-loan striker Fabio Borini got the second for the Black Cats after Jack Colback had given them an early lead.

Norwich City are relegated.

Liverpool v Newcastle and Man City v West Ham both kick off at 3pm on Sunday, 11th May and are both live on Sky Sports in the UK.

Heavily linked Liverpool transfer target Adam Lallana has suggested he could be staying at Southampton this summer, telling fans he wants to “keep progressing with the club”.

Reports last week suggested Lallana “has his heart set on a move to Anfield” (Mirror ) and “has decided on Merseyside” (Daily Mail ), with Liverpool set to table a £25 million bid (The Times).

The 25-year-old winger has had a stunning season with the Saints, culminating in him being named in the PFA Team of the Year, and several England call-ups.

But when collecting Player of the Year awards at Southampton’s end of season ceremony on Tuesday night, Lallana reiterated his loyalty to the south-coast side.

“The club means the world to me,” he is quoted in the Mirror as saying.

“I’ve been here since I was 12 and I want to keep progressing with the club.

“I’ve got a great relationship with the fans. We’ve been on a journey, and this is the icing on the cake.”

But then, was he ever going to say “my heart’s at Liverpool” at the club’s award gala?

Last week on This Is Anfield, we brought you a report on how Lallana would fit in at Anfield if indeed the reports linking him with a move to Merseyside are true.

Keep up with all the latest Liverpool transfer news in our Rumour Mill.

The 2013/14 Premier League season has seen four teams top the title for long periods at different stages of the campaign, but none have been able to cement their place there, writes Liam Jones.

LIVERPOOL, ENGLAND - Sunday, April 13, 2014: Liverpool's manager Brendan Rodgers and Manchester City's manager Manuel Pellegrini during the Premiership match at Anfield. (Pic by David Rawcliffe/Propaganda)

After witnessing that unbearable last 12 minutes (17 including added time) of football on Monday night, I have started to think that nobody wants to actually win the Premier League this season.

Four teams have all occupied long periods of time at the top of the table, with none really being overly convincing. Many people believe that, at the end of the season, the team on top of the pile deserves to win the acclaimed trophy, no matter what happened during the season. Over 38 games, the team that accumulates the most points is generally accepted as being worthy of winning the title each season. But does anyone really deserve to win it this year? Let’s have a look at the candidates.

Arsenal

Spent 128 days on top (almost half of the days in the season), and were at one stage five points clear and looking like actually mounting their first serious challenge in six years – yes, they now have the temerity to suggest we’ve “bottled it”.

LIVERPOOL, ENGLAND - Saturday, February 8, 2014: Arsenal's goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny looks dejected as Liverpool score the fourth goal against Arsenal during the Premiership match at Anfield. (Pic by David Rawcliffe/Propaganda)

A mixture of injuries, inconsistent performances from star players and big-game capitulation meant that, by the end of February, Arsenal were pretty much written off in the race. After panic signing Mesut Ozil after realizing that they weren’t getting their hands on a certain Uruguayan, many thought this may be the year they had a serious challenge, especially considering their early season form. In typical Arsenal style, however, they fell away just as their three challengers were building up a head of steam.

Chelsea

An extremely strong squad, missing possibly just one top class striker, and the supposed ‘Special One’ in charge, I don’t think you’d have found many people who didn’t think that Chelsea were going to challenge this season.

In fact, it could be argued that Chelsea have under achieved, after effectively losing their almost-certain grip on the title after extremely poor results against Crystal Palace, Aston Villa and Sunderland.

LONDON, ENGLAND - Sunday, December 29, 2013: Chelsea's Samuel Eto'o scores the second goal against Liverpool during the Premiership match at Stamford Bridge. (Pic by David Rawcliffe/Propaganda)

Like Arsenal, they were almost running away with the title, and then, after persistently being ruled out of the title by their manager, they’ve finally started to believe what he said and fallen away.

However, after their victory last week, they possibly had a vital say in the conclusion of this season’s Premier League, bringing to a halt the steamrolling run of the next challengers.

Liverpool

The outsiders at the start of the season, written off by almost everyone – including the majority of Liverpool fans – we have emerged to be the surprise package of the season, and most neutrals preferred winner.

Prior to the Chelsea defeat, it didn’t seem like anyone could stop our winning run, and we were going to win the title at a canter. However, we looked like a team that ran out of ideas last week, and despite a good first 78 minutes against Crystal Palace, the way we collapsed was definitely not one of a team with title credentials.

LIVERPOOL, ENGLAND - Sunday, April 27, 2014: Liverpool's captain Steven Gerrard looks dejected during the Premiership match against Chelsea against Chelsea at Anfield. (Pic by David Rawcliffe/Propaganda)

How many teams that have won the Premier League have lost a 3-goal lead against anyone? The shambles that was our defense at the end of Monday’s game, as highlighted by Jamie Carragher on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football, shows that maybe this year just came a bit too soon for us and our squad.

Man City

Finally we have the title favourites, both at the start of the season and at the moment. Probably the strongest squad in the league, packed full of world class international talent, there was no doubt that this team was going to be challenging for the title right to the end of the season.

However, even when they seemed to be the team with the best chance of winning it in the end, they faltered with the defeat to Liverpool and the draw to Sunderland. They now do again look almost certain to keep the trophy in Manchester, but who knows whether they will be able to handle the expectancy now that they are outright favourites?

They were less than convincing against Everton, and like we’ve seen so many times this season, the team with the best chance of winning the league tends to find a way to bring the others back into it again.

LIVERPOOL, ENGLAND - Saturday, May 3, 2014: Everton's James McCarthy in action against Manchester City's Sergio Aguero during the Premiership match at Goodison Park. (Pic by Chris Brunskill/Propaganda)

City might just have became favourites late enough to ensure they do win their second Premier League trophy.

All four teams have shown this season that they struggle to handle the pressure of being the team out in front in the title race.

Compare this to past league winning teams, and you see the difference. This season, Liverpool, Chelsea and Man City have all taken 10 points from their last 5 games. Last season, Man United won 7 in a row before all but securing their title, and the season before Man City won 6 out of their last 6.

In 2009/10 Chelsea won 7 of their last 8 and second placed Man United won their last 4 to keep the pressure on the boys in blue. And let us not forget the 2008/09 season where we accumulated 31 out of 33 points at the back end of the season and United achieved 25 out of 27 at the back end of the season.

This shows that consistently, to win the league you need to finish the season strongly, and no team this season really has. Is it a lack of genuine title experience now that Alex Ferguson has gone? Can players not handle the pressure of winning a title? Or is it just simply that the teams don’t want it enough?

No team is putting themselves out there and stamping their authority on the Premier League consistently this season, and that is why any team that does go on to win it this season is, in my opinion at least, just the best of a bad bunch.
