Daniel Sturridge is set to miss his third game in a row when Liverpool travel to West Brom on Saturday, out with the latest injury – his fifteenth since joining the club in January 2013.

The perennially injured forward has missed almost the whole campaign this season, starting just 12 times – 23% of Liverpool’s games.

That means that since he joined from Chelsea two years and three months ago, he’s started just 48% of all the games he’s been eligible to have started in.

Even adding in his substitute appearances during his time at Anfield, the 25-year-old has played in just 59% of the Reds’ games.

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers was asked about whether Jurgen Klopp’s availability this summer adds to the pressure on him at Anfield.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference ahead of the trip to West Brom, Rodgers said: “You’ll have many names that, in my time here there’s been lots of names mentioned, and that’s the mark of being at such a huge club, such a well respected club.

“There’s absolutely no problem, that’s something that happens all the time if we lose a couple of games.

“There’ll always be people linked with this job because it’s such a great club.”

Earlier this month, Klopp announced he will depart Borussia Dortmund this summer leading to bookmakers and media linking with the Liverpool manager’s job should Rodgers be sacked for failing to achieve a top four finish.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers admits his side cannot afford to allow another setback affect their finish to the season and they have to be ready to take advantage of any slip-ups by their top-four rivals.

Defeat to Aston Villa in last weekend’s FA Cup semi-final ended their trophy hopes and left the Reds facing the challenge of closing a seven-point gap to fourth-placed Manchester City.

They have a match in hand, at Hull next Tuesday, but even if they manage to reduce the deficit to four points it will still require City to drop points in their remaining five games.

“It is important. We want to finish the season strongly and if you can finish it strongly you can take that momentum into the following season,” said Rodgers of their two fixtures, starting at West Brom on Saturday, in the next four days.

“We have missed out on our goals to win a trophy, we went close but not enough, and the other one was to reach the top four.

“It is going to be difficult but we have to be there and fighting.

“It is a distant possibility, mathematically it could be, but the reliance is not with ourselves.

“You want to rely on yourselves and if you get the points you want to be in there but we have to be there to capitalise if anyone makes a mistake.”

Much has been made of the team’s failure to rise to the occasion in a big match as the Villa reverse, having taken the lead at Wembley, followed on from back-to-back defeats to Manchester United and Arsenal which derailed their bid to secure Champions League football again.

The average age of the starting line-up at Wembley was 24.6 – and that included captain Steven Gerrard, 34, and Martin Skrtel, 30.

Rodgers accepts many of the players have to learn how to be winners and deal with the expectation which comes with a club of Liverpool’s trophy-laden history.

“It is a huge club to come into,” he added. “Expectancy is huge and that is something you have to live with as both as a player and a manager.

“That comes with time, from being here and knowing the standing.

“This is a club that going back 40 years has been a winning club.

“Of course the climate has changed greatly since that time but we are an ambitious group and this is a club with ambition – it is one of the values of the club – and that is why we have to strive to be the best.

“We can have lots of excuses and talk around things but the reality is we want to be winners and that is something we are very keen to continue.

“They have worked very well in training and now we have to carry on and learn from the disappointment.

“Hopefully in time they will perform and everyone will perform to a level which allows us to make steps in the right direction.

“I am even more motivated than the first day I walked in here to make sure we can as a group continue to progress and make the next steps.”

Rodgers takes his team to the Hawthorns looking for a reaction but knows that will not be easy against a side which, since the arrival of Tony Pulis at the turn of the year, has kept four clean sheets in seven home league matches.

“It is important for us to go there and regain the motivation and look to perform and if we do that we have a chance to win any game,” added the Reds boss.

Asier Illarramendi in talks ??

Illaramendi dianggarkan bernilai £23m bila jendela perpindahan pemain dibuka nnti.

Sporting Lisbon defensive midfielder William Carvalho has been linked with a move to Liverpool this week, Jack Lusby explores why.

LONDON, ENGLAND - Wednesday, December 10, 2014: Sporting Clube de Portugal's William Carvalho in action against Chelsea during the final UEFA Champions League Group G match at Stamford Bridge. (Pic by David Rawcliffe/Propaganda)

Liverpool want to sign Sporting Lisbon midfielder William Carvalho this summer, reports claim, and the 23-year-old would be a very wise signing by manager Brendan Rodgers.

David Maddock of the Mirror suggests that, along with PSV Eindhoven forward Memphis Depay, William is also on Rodgers’ radar this summer.

This comes amidst suggestions that the manager is hoping to sign “more established stars better placed to go straight into the first team.”

So would William be a smart addition to the Liverpool midfield this summer?

Strengths

William is a stocky, 6’1” Portuguese defensive midfielder who has swiftly developed into a key player for Lisbon on a club level, and is becoming a major component within the Portugal national team, too.

Since returning from a successful season-long loan spell with Cercle Brugge in 2012/13, he has made 56 league appearances for Lisbon, with only two of these coming as a substitute.

He generally sits as a lone midfield anchor in a straightforward 4-3-3 formation, and this role suits his strengths.

William is a primarily defensive outlet for Lisbon, shielding his back line, mopping up opposing attacks and passing the ball off quickly to his teammates—he is a typical midfield anchor.

In six Champions League games this season, for example, William averaged 2.2 tackles and 1.8 interceptions per game, serving as a relative strong physical presence.

He has averaged 57.5 passes per European game, with an accuracy of 85.2 percent.

The 23-year-old ranks well among Liverpool’s current regular central midfield charges:

Carvalho vs LFC Midfield

(All statistics averaged per league game via WhoScored, with Carvalho’s output measured via his Champions League appearances for availability’s sake.)

William stands comfortably within this group, and looks capable of slotting into the Liverpool system smoothly.

His physical stature mirrors and aids his dominant ability in midfield, he is able to loom over proceedings with composure and tactical intelligence, allowing him a grasp on the central battles much like Barcelona’s Sergio Busquets.

Liverpool need a player who can take hold on sticky situations, and William can be that man.

Weaknesses

At present, William’s main positive attributes lie in his tactical game—reading play and breaking up attacks intelligently—and this is magnified by his lofty physique.

But the 23-year-old can still improve on his physical game, particularly if he is to adapt to a fast-paced style of play under Rodgers in the Premier League.

This mainly lies in his current lack of ability to break from midfield and support attacks once opposition moves have broken down—he’s not yet fully in the Nemanja Matic mould, with the Chelsea man serving as the archetype for a dominant all-round defensive midfielder.

Of course, it could be that Rodgers is looking for a player who solely operates to break up play and shield his back line, and no doubt Liverpool supporters will be pleased to add any protection this summer.

But perhaps the price regularly quoted for William’s services, Liverpool should expect more.

Reports linking the Reds with a move for William last month, suggested that Rodgers will have to vie for his services alongside Manchester United’s Louis van Gaal, and claimed that it would take a fee of up to £35 million to coax the midfielder from Lisbon.

“The Sporting Lisbon midfielder has a £35million get-out clause in his contract, though changes to third party ownership could see his price drop by around £10m.

However, the action between the two Premier League giants could mean his value surpasses the £30m mark.”

If Liverpool do enter another speculative tug-of-war with United, and potentially test their transfer-market credentials even further, it will likely mean forking out a truly significant sum for William.

While the frivolity of last season’s £50 million Southampton raid may suggest otherwise, if Liverpool are to sanction a £30 million midfield signing this summer, Rodgers must be sure he’s absolutely the right man.

So where would he see William slot into his Reds side?

Where Would He Fit in at Liverpool?

BALTIMORE, MD - Saturday, July 28, 2012: Liverpool's Lucas Leiva and captain Steven Gerrard before a pre-season friendly match against Tottenham Hotspur at the M&T Bank Stadium. (Pic by David Rawcliffe/Propaganda)

Naturally, with reports suggesting William is being targeted as a replacement for Gerrard, it would be assumed that the Portuguese would step in to fill the departing captain’s role in Rodgers’ squad.

However, with Emre Can and Jordan Henderson looking likely to assume this dynamic, driving-force role in the Liverpool midfield, William’s quality is better used elsewhere.

Instead, it could be wisely suggested that William is being targeted to fill a role in Rodgers’ squad that was previously vacant.

Rodgers desperately needs a consistent, diligent defensive midfielder.

With Lucas’ fitness highly unreliable, and Liverpool’s back line in constant need of protection, William would likely come in and fill that role—anchoring the midfield, and shielding the likes of Mamadou Sakho and Martin Skrtel.

Sure, he has his current deficiencies, but at 23 years old William represents a largely well-rounded defensive midfielder, no doubt indebted to his experience in Europe and at international level as a key player.

Under Rodgers, William could grow to be become a Matic-type defensive midfielder and, if Liverpool do sanction his costly signing, this is what perhaps the manager should expect.

Should Liverpool target William Carvalho this summer? Let us know in the comments below.

Luciano Vietto

Tak ramai yg mengenali bakat muda ini. Tetapi saya selalu merasakan dia adalah pemain dalam kategori good striker.

Posisi : CF (Modern No.9)

Style Of Play :
Good Dribbler
Berupaya create chances
Good Pace and Agility
Berupaya melakukan long shots

Kelemahan
Aerial Duel
Kerap Lose Ball

Statistik
Games : 39
Goal : 18 Goal Per Game : 0.46 (good)
Assist :

Shots Per Game: 2.7 ( Strong)

Passes Acc :73.9%
Key Passes Per Game : 1.1

Tactical Awareness : 7/10

Verdict

My Valuation :
He Is Multi talent striker dan berpotensi menjadi 20 goal striker.

Price : £17m

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers feels he is still the best man to lead the club – but understands why there is speculation about his future.

LONDON, ENGLAND - Sunday, April 19, 2015: Liverpool's manager Brendan Rodgers during the FA Cup Semi-Final match against Aston Villa at Wembley Stadium. (Pic by David Rawcliffe/Propaganda)

A disappointing defeat in the FA Cup semi-final against Aston Villa means that the former Swansea boss has failed to win a trophy in his first three seasons at Anfield.

However Rodgers does not believe anyone else could done a better job with the resources at his disposal.

“There will always be names mentioned at a club like Liverpool. That is the mark of a huge, worldwide club. That will continue for however long I’m here.” Rodgers told national newspapers.

“I don’t think there’s anyone better [than him] for realising the FSG (Fenway Sports Group) goals and I didn’t take over a 10-year machine that was used to winning.”

“When you lose a big game like at the weekend, this is when you find you are at a big club because the critics come after you. But that is something you have to deal with.

“I will hold myself up against anyone to manage this club and to fit the model of what they want.

“I am super-ambitious in terms of wanting to win and there will be no greater place to do that than here, but of course in modern football there are lots of processes that go on behind the scenes that people will never be aware of.

“In terms of what we are trying to do, I do not see anyone better in terms of the hand we were given.

“When I came in, the team was eighth. Yes, we had the Carling Cup win but, in terms of where the club wanted to go, we implemented a philosophy that was exciting, that won games, that almost won the league unexpectedly and qualified for the Champions League. We’ve got to two cup semi-finals this season, one of which we have not performed well in.

“The plan here is to be consistent winners, not to be ‘nearly men’. We do not want that label. We are here to win and there is no one more ambitious.

“If there comes a time when that is not the case and we move on, there will be no one who respects the owners more than me. But I will fight for my life to be here and if I can get the tools here to help us we can be really successful.”

Vice-captain Jordan Henderson will be part of Rodgers’ plan at Liverpool after signing a new long-term deal.

“It is great news for the club and Jordan that he will be spending the best part of his career and development here at Liverpool and he is a big part of the plan going forward,” the Reds boss said.

“The club paid big money for him at the time because he had big potential and that potential has been developed and he will go into the next phase of that.”

Brendan Rodgers’ Liverpool return to Premier League activity on Saturday afternoon when they take on West Brom at the Hawthorns. Ben Twelves discusses the team selection options available to the Reds boss ahead of the clash.

Liverpool attempt to move swiftly on from last Sunday’s poor showing at Wembley by returning to winning ways immediately against Tony Pulis’ side. The Reds are looking to prolong the race for a top four place and at least finish the season in positive form.

With only the slim chance of Champions League qualification left to compete for, it’s now about restoring pride for the dejected Reds alongside producing strong performances and results over the final six matches to keep the pressure on those above in case of an unlikely slip-up.

Currently trailing Man City by seven points but with the advantage of a game in hand, Liverpool still have an outside chance of a top four finish and while the possibility is there, Rodgers’ men must put previous disappointments aside and embark on one last push beginning against the Baggies, who have suffered four defeats in their last six league matches.

The Reds have little to lose and everything to gain and with that and the vast number of woeful performances last Sunday in mind, Rodgers could make some alterations to his side for the visit to the Hawthorns – a ground the Reds boss has tasted victory at only once in three visits.

The Team

Liverpool will once again be without injured trio Mamadou Sakho, Lucas Leiva and Daniel Sturridge who all remain sidelined, but Rodgers is set to welcome back Jordon Ibe – who was undoubtedly missed at Wembley – and Adam Lallana to match-day involvement after the 26-year-old returned to training this week.

A number of poor performances last time out could tempt the Liverpool boss into re-shuffling his team, but that won’t include introducing Jon Flanagan to the side with the local lad still well short of match fitness despite having returned to full training.

Glen Johnson could be one of those recalled though and Javi Manquillo will also be hopeful of the chance for his first action since February. Should one of the right-back duo come back in, Emre Can could move out of the back four and into a natural midfield role where Jordan Henderson, Joe Allen and Steven Gerrard are all competing for starting shirts.

SOUTHAMPTON, ENGLAND - Sunday, February 22, 2015: Liverpool's Jordon Ibe in action against Southampton during the FA Premier League match at St Mary's Stadium. (Pic by David Rawcliffe/Propaganda)

The Reds are full of attacking midfield options following the comeback of Lallana and Ibe – with the teenager a possibility to come straight into the starting XI – but striking options are limited again with Sturridge’s unsurprising absence. Raheem Sterling could lead the line once more should Rodgers opt against affording Mario Balotelli the chance to build on a positive Wembley showing.

Liverpool’s XI

Despite a whole host of formations failing to bring an upturn in performance for the Reds against Aston Villa, Rodgers is likely to choose between utilising the 3-4-2-1 system and opting for a 4-3-3 shape.

Deploying a back four could be the way to rid some underperforming players from the team and should the Ulsterman decide to go with the 4-3-3 system, two changes to the starting XI could materialise as a result.

Dejan Lovren’s continued dreadful form should see the Croatian make way with Johnson coming in, and Steven Gerrard’s struggling legs should see him replaced by Ibe, who should start in a youthful and pacey three man attack alongside Lazar Markovic and Sterling.

Those two changes would see the Reds take to the Hawthorn’s surface looking like this:

WBA XI 4-3-3

However, Ibe’s return could prove a key factor in persuading Rodgers to stick with 3-4-2-1, where the teenager should operate from the right wing-back position – replacing Markovic – which would allow Emre Can to play in the back three.

With Markovic benched, Gerrard could continue in the front three ahead of the available-again Lallana, where the 34-year-old could again line up alongside the Coutinho and Sterling to form the Liverpool attack.

Those alterations and system switch would see Liverpool’s line up looking like this come 3pm kick-off time on Saturday:

WBA XI 3-4-2-1

The Reds are now in a position where they have little to lose and everything to gain over the six remaining fixtures, and while that is the case, Rodgers’ men must make sure that they are as strongly positioned as possible to capitalise on any slip-up from those above, making a win on Saturday a necessity.

TacticalTheory : The False 9

by Axello
_______________________
SATU EVOLUSI

Ingat tak rajah numeric posisi saya post semalam.
________________________
Mengapa ia dipanggil false 9
1. Style of play - mereka bermain seperti no.10 tetapi ada finishing no.9

_________________________
Bilakah kali pertama ia digunakan?

Amat sukar melihat false 9 offside.

__________________________
Kaedah Defending Terbaik Berdepan False 9

Positioning : 6/10
Affection : 5/10
Clinical : 4/10
Teamwork : 5/10

Dribble : 6/10
Speed : 5/10

Body Balance : 8/10
In The Air : 8/10
Header : 8/10

Short Passes : 6/10
Long Passes : 5/10

He passed his best.

Ini adalah pendapat peribadi saya. My final verdict : NO

Belakang parang kalau diasah lagikan tajam,
Inikan pula kaki Hendo.

Walau bumi mana dipijak Abang Long,

Jangan salah sangka fans semua.

SOALAN 1 ) Hull City or Dull City ?

Soalan kedua berformatkan open-ended question. Adakah pengurusan kelab Hull City mengamalkan *** dan terangkan signikasi amalan *** kepada pembangunan bolasepak di England merangkumi kehadiran passionate penonton vs kautan keuntungan berlipat ganda.

Jawapan : (hendaklah disertakan quote drpd tokoh2 bolasepak dunia)

Brendan Rodgers: Liverpool manager remains confident in his ability

Brendan Rodgers: Liverpool manager remains confident in his ability

Brendan Rodgers has batted away speculation over his Anfield future by declaring he is the best man to manage Liverpool.

Pressure has built on Rodgers after last Sunday’s FA Cup semi-final defeat by Aston Villa which gives him the unenviable distinction of becoming the first Liverpool boss in more than 50 years not to win a trophy in his first three seasons in charge.

The availability of Jurgen Klopp, who leaves Borussia Dortmund in the summer, has added to the speculation about Rodgers’ future, but the 42-year-old is adamant there is no-one who could replace him.

Asked if he was confident that he would still be Liverpool manager next season, Rodgers said: “Very much so. I don’t think there is anyone better. That’s the reality of how I see it.

“Three months ago I was a tactical genius, performing to a good level. We lost some important games and now I’m not so good. That’s football, people will speculate.

“When you’re at a club like Liverpool you will have many names mentioned - that’s the mark of being at such a huge club, a worldwide club.

“It’s not a problem. It’s something that happens. If you lose a couple of games, others will be linked with the job.

“That will happen whether I’m doing good, bad or indifferent because this is such a big club.”

Rodgers is reportedly set to meet Liverpool’s owners, Fenway Sports Group, next week but the Northern Irishman is relaxed about the situation at the club.

“I have a strong relationship with the owners,” he said. “They understand this was going to be a process.”

After finishing runners-up to Manchester City last season, Liverpool must beat West Brom this weekend to retain any realistic hope of qualifying for next season’s Champions League.

Rodgers insists Liverpool will fight for a top-four place “right till the very end” but says last season’s team, spearheaded by Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge, over-achieved.

“This isn’t a group of ready-made players used to winning. I’ve not taken over a machine that for 10 years was winning trophies,” he said.

“That’s something we are clear on. But of course we want to be better next season and improve on the performance level.

“If you take the emotion out of last weekend, this was a team who over achieved last season. We were not expected to get in the top four.

“The same team had a world-class striker in it and someone on fire in Daniel Sturridge when fit.

“That team deemed not good enough for the top four went on a great run and nearly won the title.

“We lost those two players with Luis leaving and Daniel getting injured and brought in others to improve the squad.

“Where we sit now, fifth place and having reached two semi-finals is probably on a par with where we’re at.

“Of course our ambition is greater than that. We have to be planning forward. That means bringing in players in the summer. That’s something that’s well underway. The summer will be a great opportunity to kick on and keep improving.”
