Penyerang Blackburn Rovers, Rudy Gestede :

"Selepas melihat dia (Skrtel) terbaring di atas padang dan dalam keadaan yang tidak sedarkan diri, saya terus memanggil pasukan perubatan. Keadaan agak cemas ketika itu. Tetapi saya bertanya kepada Adam Lallana mengenai keadaan Skrtel semasa rehat separuh masa dan semuanya ok. Saya berharap dia akan kembali pulih dan boleh kembali beraksi."

Subjek : vs Blackburn

Venue : Dewan Ceria Anfield

Guru : En. Rodgers

Ketua Tingkatan : Henderson

Pegawai Penilai : Axello (FTA)

Pelajar Tak Hadir

1. Gerrard - MC

2. Flanagan - Bercuti bersama keluarga

3. Allen - Sakit gigi

-------------------------

Grading

1. Mignolet - B+

Berjaya mengekalkan kebersihan kelas sekali lagi.

2. Skrtel - Tak lengkap! Kertas soalan tak dijawab habis ! Namun pihak sekolah memberi perlepasan sebab ada surat doktor. Tapi dia sempat post kat social network gambar dia senyum. Tak pe ... anda dimaafkan kali ini.

3. Johnson - C+

kertas 1 agak hancur, kertas 2 dia lebih baik. Melakukan banyak passing dan membantu di depan.

4. Lovren - C

Kertas 2 memang ok. Ada 2 atau 3 corner flag passes.

5. Sterling - B+

Calon top student kali ini saya rasa. Dia create chances, buat recoveries, track back sampai kena tendang ngan budak blackurrant. Namun kecemerlangan beliau terhalang sebab member lain lemau.

6. Emre Can - C+

Kali pertama budak skema ni dapat markah drop macam ni. Dulu memula masuk kelas dia suka duduk meja tengah bawah kipas. Bila lama sangat duduk ngan geng meja belakang macam dia rimas duduk kat tengah tengah. Mungkin kipas mengganggu struktur dan tekstur rambut beliau.

Duel play / body dia ok tapi contribution lain amat low. So hari ini dia dilarang amik RMT kat kantin.

7. Henderson - B

Individual play ok. Tapi teamplay agak menurun. Masih mampu melakukan berberapa impressive change direction passes.

8. Markovic - C+

Macam dia ni rumus dah ok tapi tak tulis jawapan. Positioning on ball dan offball memaang invitable.

Dia laju dan bergaya. Tapi banyak sangat unsucesful passes.

10. Coutinho - C+

Inilah yg menjadi missing point. Banyak long shot yang tak munasabah. Cuma 2 aksi dribble... hmmm

11. Sturridge - C+

Kualiti sepakan tu ada. Tapi tak percise. Banyak dierect ke keeper. Menjadi mangsa tarik budak blackurrant. 2 penalty shout tapi guru disiplin x layan.

Limited chancea utk melakukan sesuatu.

2 shot - 1 on 1 off

13. Kolo Toure - A

3 duel

2 tackles

1 on target

------------------

Brendan Rodgers : B-

Still wrong result sebab pasukan dah try to keep coming and coming.

PostMacth Liverpool v Swansea (0-0)

Rodgers : Kami Kepenatan !

MenempahReplay

Selepas Liverpool seri tanpa jaringan, Blackburn Rovers - Liverpool akan menempah ulangan Piala FA sama ada pada 7 atau 8 April. Rodgers yg melabelkan secara sinis penjadualan ulangan Bradford-Reading pada Isnin sebagai &039;luar biasa&039;

MartinSkrtel tak pegi Hospital.. hmm, muke dah gangster dah...haha

Isu fatigue jelas pada Emre Can yang digelar the tank pun macam lost ground semalam.

Pemain easily fall to the ground.

Still proud of my team yg dah menyajikan usaha yg tinggi tapi mereka tetap manusia. Stay behind my team.

Isu fatigue jelas pada Emre Can yang digelar the tank pun macam lost ground semalam.

Pemain easily fall to the ground.

Still proud of my team yg dah menyajikan usaha yg tinggi tapi mereka tetap manusia. Stay behind my team.

Btw : kertas perperiksaan masih dalam semakan.

Despite a disappointing 0-0 draw in their FA Cup quarter-final clash with Blackburn Rovers, Jack Lusby believes Liverpool should not fear a replay.

Liverpool’s encouraging recent run came to a halt with a 0-0 draw at home to FA Cup quarter-final opponents Blackburn Rovers on Sunday, but there is little cause for concern ahead of an Ewood Park replay.

It was a drab affair at Anfield, with Brendan Rodgers’ side showing a lack of cutting edge amid a frustrating defensive showing from Blackburn.

However, Rodgers showed enough in-game ingenuity to suggest the Reds can come out on top next time around, and will benefit from a less congested fixture list from now on.

Cynical Blackburn Rovers

After the game, BT Sport presenter Jake Humphrey desperately clung to his likely pre-meditated summary that “the cup’s done it again.”

In truth, and similarly to Saturday’s Bradford City-Reading stalemate, this was an awful game of football.

A giant killing is always welcomed, but there is a big difference between a great result for the neutral and a great display—at Anfield on Sunday, Blackburn set up for a frustrating tie, for which they are due credit.

Gary Bowyer has commendably steadied what has been a very troubled Blackburn side since his appointment as manager, and this has largely been due to their effective direct style.

At Anfield, Blackburn set up in a 4-2-3-1 formation, with Lee Williamson, Corry Evans and the slightly-more-advanced Tom Cairney prowling ahead of the Rovers back four.

LIVERPOOL, ENGLAND - Sunday, March 8, 2015: Liverpool's Philippe Coutinho Correia in action against Blackburn Rovers during the FA Cup 6th Round Quarter-Final match at Anfield. (Pic by David Rawcliffe/Propaganda)

This suffocated Philippe Coutinho and Adam Lallana in the dual No. 10 roles, and as such Daniel Sturridge was starved of service—Liverpool had just four shots on target.

Bowyer’s attacking plan largely consisted of lumping the ball up to lone frontman Rudy Gestede.

Gestede made his intentions clear in the opening five minutes, with a robust (but fair) aerial challenge leading to Martin Skrtel’s withdrawal with a suspected concussion.

This approach perhaps suited what is looking an increasingly poor Anfield pitch, and Gestede’s physicality troubled a decidedly shaky Reds defence.

Football - FA Cup - 3rd Round - Everton FC v Blackburn Rovers FC

However, aerial prowess aside Gestede played the target man role rather poorly—the striker posted a 54.1 percent passing accuracy, made no clear-cut chances for his teammates, and made five unsuccessful touches.

Blackburn did enough to stymie Liverpool on Sunday, who looked to be suffering from somewhat of a fixture-list hangover, but did little to suggest a replay will be a true challenge for Rodgers’ side.

Liverpool’s Tactical Switch

On his appointment as Liverpool manager, Rodgers declared that “if plan A doesn’t work, plan B is to make a change to make plan A more effective.”

In other words, and rather encouragingly, he would not look to compromise Liverpool’s attacking ideals by opting for a typical ‘plan B’ (see: route one) approach, but instead look for ways to tweak his system.

With Liverpool’s 3-4-2-1 clogged by Blackburn’s efficient midfield, Rodgers shifted his action zones wisely.

Much of this stemmed from the introduction of Mario Balotelli, who took the place of Lazar Markovic on 58 minutes.

LIVERPOOL, ENGLAND - Friday, September 26, 2014: Liverpool's Mario Balotelli in action against Everton during the Premier League match at Anfield. (Pic by David Rawcliffe/Propaganda)

Balotelli’s physical presence, and the switch to a forward two, forced a change to Blackburn’s shape.

Coutinho and Lallana, who switched to a right wing-back role on Markovic’s withdrawal, took up wider positions in the second half, more often than not looking to aim crosses into the box rather than engineer a way through Blackburn’s resolute central area.

Between them, Coutinho and Lallana made a remarkable 20 crosses.

For means of comparison, their combined season’s average in the Premier League amounts to just one per game.

From Balotelli’s introduction, and this tactical switch, Liverpool dominated Blackburn, who rarely got to ball out of their half.

Naturally, the Reds still lacked a cutting edge, but Rodgers showed his tactical nous, and a possible solution to what will likely be a similarly defensive Blackburn setup at Ewood Park.

Time to Regroup

LIVERPOOL, ENGLAND - Sunday, March 8, 2015: Liverpool's manager Brendan Rodgers and Blackburn Rovers' manager Gary Bowyer during the FA Cup 6th Round Quarter-Final match at Anfield. (Pic by David Rawcliffe/Propaganda)

At present, the date of the prospective Ewood Park replay is under debate, with very few true gaps in either side’s schedule, that of other TV scheduling and an international break, with anything from late March to mid-April speculated.

Either way, the prospect of a replay at least allows Rodgers and his side time to regroup and restore some impetus, and one more fixture is nothing compared to Liverpool’s heavy last four months.

This game was Liverpool’s third in a week, for a prime example.

The absence of Mamadou Sakho and Joe Allen in this fixture was significant—Sakho’s physical and technical prowess was missed at the back, and Allen’s energy and efficiency was sorely missed in a crowded midfield.

LIVERPOOL, ENGLAND - Sunday, March 1, 2015: Liverpool's Joe Allen in action against Manchester City's Fernando Luiz Roza 'Fernandinho' during the Premier League match at Anfield. (Pic by David Rawcliffe/Propaganda)

Furthermore, the early departure of Skrtel dealt Rodgers another blow, despite Kolo Toure’s comfortable showing in his place.

At the very least this upcoming replay clash offers Liverpool a chance to pool their strongest resources, gather the experiences gained at Anfield on Sunday and mount a renewed charge on the FA Cup final.

The eight-day gap between this draw and Liverpool’s next game is the longest for the side since mid-November, and there is perhaps reason to forgive an uninspired performance such as this after the last four months.

Happily, on top of that, Blackburn Rovers showed no reason for Liverpool to fear a trip to Ewood Park in the near future.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers admits his side lacked the sharpness to break down Blackburn but was aggrieved they did not have at least one penalty in their goalless FA Cup quarter-final at Anfield.

The mid-table SkyBet Championship side certainly had the better of the first half but Rodgers felt Matt Kilgallon should have been penalised for a foul on Adam Lallana.

There was a second incident after the break when substitute Mario Balotelli appeared to have his shirt pulled inside the area, but ultimately Rodgers had to concede his side were not at their incisive best.

“The last three months we have been in outstanding form and the physical and mental energy we put into games is at such a high level,” he said. “Today we just lacked that bit of sharpness physically. You want to try and grind your way through the game. We did that.

“There is a physical energy in how we play and it is natural sometimes there will be a little bit of cost and that affected the speed of our play.

“Give Blackburn credit. The defended well in a low block, really well, and put their bodies on the line and made it really difficult for us.

“I definitely thought we should have had one penalty. Adam Lallana got his body between the man and the ball and as he went to shoot he was knocked over.

“I thought that was a clear penalty. The others were debatable. “We probably needed that bit of luck to get the game opened up.”

Liverpool struggled to get going after an eight-minute injury break when Martin Skrtel fell awkwardly and was eventually carried off on a stretcher wearing a neck brace.

“He is fine but he will go to the local hospital to make sure. If he had his choice he wouldn’t but we have to follow procedure,” added the Reds boss, who said captain Steven Gerrard would be fit for the trip to Swansea a week on Monday after missing seven matches with a hamstring injury.

“He was fine, up walking and talking after the game but as a precaution we need to make sure he is okay.”

Rovers boss Gary Bowyer was pleased with the performance, although slightly disappointed they could not force a winner.

“Full credit to the players, they were magnificent and restored a bit more pride,” he said.

“Craig Conway had a fantastic chance and Alex Baptiste’s header brought a fantastic save from Mignolet.

“Aerially we were very dominant and had a couple of opportunities.”

The replay will not take place until next month because of Liverpool’s Monday night Premier League commitment at Swansea and an international break, and Bowyer warned them it would be far from plain sailing at a ground where Rovers have already dispatched Swansea and Stoke.

“Our players were pleasantly delighted to see so much grass on the pitch at Anfield,” he said.

“At Ewood it is not like that. Brendan was complaining about the pitch here. Wait until he sees Ewood. It makes this look like Wembley.”

Rodgers post-Blackburn: We lacked sharpness; Skrtel is fine

Liverpool could only draw 0-0 with Blackburn in the FA Cup quarter-final at Anfield on Sunday. We rate each of Brendan Rodgers‘ players on a frustrating afternoon on Merseyside.

Liverpool 0-0 Blackburn

FA Cup quarter-final, Anfield

Sunday, 8th March 2015

SIMON MIGNOLET- 7

The Belgian was one of Liverpool’s better players, and his wonderful save to deny Alex Baptiste arguably kept his side in the cup.

The 27-year-old was confident with his handling all game, barring one clumsy attempt at a punch early on, although his kicking was a little erratic at times.

GLEN JOHNSON- 6-

It’s very easy to get on Johnson’s back, given how woeful he has been over the last couple of years, but he actually had a fairly solid game.

He used the ball well on the whole, barring the odd trademark lapse, and he produced a couple of decent bursts going forward. He will be criticised by some because of who he is, but that is unfair.

He was though, very ponderous in possession on occasion.

MARTIN SKRTEL- n/a

Skrtel only lasted a couple of minutes, having fallen nastily after an aerial challenge with Rudy Gestede. Replaced by Kolo Toure after an eight-minute stoppage.

Rodgers said post-match that the Slovakian was walking and talking fine but will go to hospital purely as procedure.

DEJAN LOVREN- 5

The former Southampton man has improved in recent weeks, but he was back to his very worst against Gary Bowyer’s side, especially in the first half.

He was wasteful in possession, suspect positionally and an all-round weak-link. Some players eventually come good, but you have to wonder whether Lovren ever will.

EMRE CAN- 5.5

LIVERPOOL, ENGLAND - Sunday, March 8, 2015: Liverpool's Emre Can is fouled by Blackburn Rovers' Adam Henley during the FA Cup 6th Round Quarter-Final match at Anfield. (Pic by David Rawcliffe/Propaganda)

Can has been such a superb signing so far, but he had an off day in a rare midfield role.

Too often he tried too much on the ball, and his general influence wasn’t as great as it has been of late. The young German definitely looks more comfortable at centre-back for now, although his future may well lie in midfield.

JORDAN HENDERSON- 6.5

Liverpool’s soon-to-be permanent captain was once again an impressive figure, as he desperately tried to inspire his team to victory.

He showed a good array of passing, worked his socks off throughout and looks more and more like a leader by the week. The 24-year-old has had better games, but he was still arguably the Reds’ best outfield player.

Not up the standards of Man City and Burnley but that can only be expected with this the third game in eight days.

LAZAR MARKOVIC- 5.5

Markovic blew hot and cold all game, and it’s getting to the stage where we need to see a bit more consistency from him.

The 21-year-old showed some good bursts of pace down the right flank, but his final ball was often more hopeful than incisive. Arguably wasted out wide.

Replaced by Mario Balotelli after 59 minutes.

RAHEEM STERLING- 6.5

The England star was deployed at left wing-back, and although he did a pretty decent job there, he was still wasted in the role.

His pace and trickery made him one of Liverpool’s more dangerous attacking outlets. He did some good defensive work too, in fairness.

ADAM LALLANA- 5

Like Markovic, Lallana just cannot seem to find any consistency at the moment. He often looks more dangerous than he is, and was frustrating to watch throughout.

The usual nimble footwork was out in force but nothing really came of it, and time and time again he held onto the ball for too long. He was switched to the right-hand side in the second-half, but was ineffective there.

PHILIPPE COUTINHO- 5

LIVERPOOL, ENGLAND - Sunday, March 8, 2015: Liverpool's Philippe Coutinho Correia in action against Blackburn Rovers during the FA Cup 6th Round Quarter-Final match at Anfield. (Pic by David Rawcliffe/Propaganda)

After such a wonderful run of form, Coutinho had a very poor game by his high standards.

The 22-year-old Brazilian was nullified expertly by the Blackburn midfield, and he was very guilty of trying the impossible when an easier option was called for. He was due a bad game to be fair to him.

Blackburn defended deep which forced Coutinho to drop deeper and deeper to receive the ball but lacked any movement ahead of him.

DANIEL STURRIDGE- 5

Sturridge still looks well short of his sharpest, and he was disappointing again.

He produced the odd nice touch here and there, and tested Simon Eastwood in the first-half, but his all-round game was sloppy and he was kept very quiet in general.

Substitutes

KOLO TOURE (on for Skrtel ’11)- 6.5

The likeable veteran was introduced early following the injury to Skrtel, and he did a solid job. He made one vital tackle in the first-half, and rarely put a foot wrong. Ironically our biggest attacking threat having hit the post and had one disallowed.

MARIO BALOTELLI (on for Markovic ’59)- 6

The Italian looked relatively dangerous when he came on, holding the ball up and running into the channels, but one typically erratic shot from distance summed up his unpredictability.

BRENDAN RODGERS- 5

LIVERPOOL, ENGLAND - Monday, December 29, 2014: Liverpool's manager Brendan Rodgers before the Premier League match against Swansea City at Anfield. (Pic by David Rawcliffe/Propaganda)

The Reds manager didn’t have his finest hour. His decision to play Sterling at wing-back didn’t really pay off, and switching Lallana to the right in the second-half made little sense.

A frustrating match in isolation but in the bigger picture, a replay isn’t so bad.

Referee- ANDRE MARRINER- 5

Marriner was horribly whistle-happy all afternoon, and there were several strong penalty claims that he waved away. He was a big reason for the game having so little flow to it.

Brendan Rodgers: Felt Liverpool were denied a clear penalty at Anfield

Brendan Rodgers: Felt Liverpool were denied a clear penalty at Anfield

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers admits his side lacked the sharpness to break down Blackburn but was aggrieved they did not have at least one penalty in their goalless FA Cup quarter-final at Anfield.

The mid-table Sky Bet Championship side certainly had the better of the first half but Rodgers felt Matt Kilgallon should have been penalised by referee Andre Marriner for a foul on Adam Lallana.

There was a second incident after the break when substitute Mario Balotelli appeared to have his shirt pulled inside the area, but ultimately Rodgers had to concede his side were not at their incisive best.

"The last three months we have been in outstanding form and the physical and mental energy we put into games is at such a high level," he said.

"Today we just lacked that bit of sharpness physically. You want to try and grind your way through the game. We did that.

"There is a physical energy in how we play and it is natural sometimes there will be a little bit of cost and that affected the speed of our play.

"Give Blackburn credit. The defended well in a low block, really well, and put their bodies on the line and made it really difficult for us

"I definitely thought we should have had one penalty. Adam Lallana got his body between the man and the ball and as he went to shoot he was knocked over.

"I thought that was a clear penalty. The others were debatable. We probably needed that bit of luck to get the game opened up."

Liverpool struggled to get going after an eight-minute injury break when Martin Skrtel fell awkwardly and was eventually carried off on a stretcher wearing a neck brace.

"He is fine but he will go to the local hospital to make sure. If he had his choice he wouldn't but we have to follow procedure," added the Reds boss, who also said captain Steven Gerrard would be fit for the trip to Swansea a week on Monday after missing seven matches with a hamstring injury.

"He was fine, up walking and talking after the game but as a precaution we need to make sure he is okay."

Liverpool were held to a frustrating goalless draw in the FA Cup quarter-final against Blackburn on Sunday. We round-up the best reaction on social media during and after the game.

After such a superb run of results and performances, this forgettable 90 minutes was an absolute damp squib from start to finish.

Martin Skrtel‘s early injury seemed to ruin the Reds’ momentum a little, and Gary Bowyer’s Blackburn side were more than deserving of a draw. They defending doggedly throughout, and had some good chances to win the game.

Too many Liverpool players were below-par on the day, whether it be Philippe Coutinho, Emre Can, Adam Lallana or Daniel Sturridge, and they will now need a replay to overcome Rovers and reach the semi-finals.

That’s far from ideal, given the fact that that game will likely be a few days before Brendan Rodgers‘ side host Manchester United in the Premier League. Being ultra-positive though, at least they are still in the competition.

Here is how social media reacted to the drab 0-0 draw, with fans, journalists and ex-players voicing their opinions.

‘Hope in your heart’ on the forums:

Poor game. That’s a replay in ten days at Blackburn. That will be another tough fight, which we could have done without, but that’s the FA Cup for you: no easy games.

‘abcd’ on the forums:

Frustrating. Important save from Mignolet just after the break or it could have been worse. Toure definitely should have had a pen in 2nd half with the chance he missed. Overall though you just couldn’t see the goal coming. It was Bolton all over again.

‘ptt’ on the forum:

We’re still in the FA cup. It’s all a matter of perspective.

Let us know your thoughts on the game in the comments below.
