Los Angeles Galaxy coach Bruce Arena has confirmed Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard will join the club in July. In an interview with the LA Times, Arena revealed what is expected to be officially announced later on Wednesday.

LIVERPOOL, ENGLAND - Saturday, November 29, 2014: Liverpool's captain Steven Gerrard comes on to replace Lucas Leiva against Stoke City during the Premier League match at Anfield. (Pic by David Rawcliffe/Propaganda)

Steven Gerrard arrives in July and by then we will certainly have a plan available,” Arena, who has led the club to three Major League Soccer titles in four years, told the newspaper.

“He’s a player of quality. I’m not concerned about how he’s going to fit in with our team.

“We have a club now with a proven history of success. All those things go hand in hand in making LA Galaxy a very attractive team for players such as Steven Gerrard.”

Galaxy president Chris Klein described the Reds captain as “the perfect fit”.

“We just started thinking in the universe of players that are out there, we want to make a decision on what signifies a Galaxy-designated player.

“When we look at that, Steven Gerrard is the perfect fit with what he brings to us on the field and the character that he has off it.”

In announcing his decision to leave Liverpool, ending an association he has had since he was eight, Gerrard stressed he could not play for another European club if there was a chance they would come up against his boyhood side. That is partly the reason he made the life-changing decision to move to the United States, and he believes Galaxy is the ideal destination.

“I think it’s a match made in heaven really,” Gerrard told the newspaper. “One of the reasons I chose LA Galaxy was because of the success they’ve had recently.

“I want to finish my career very strong. I want to add some medals and trophies to my collection.”

By Mark Pearson’s reckoning, FSG’s transfer spending has a 91.2% failure rate at Liverpool – and it’s about time they looked at their own results.

“However beautiful the strategy, you should occasionally look at the results”. – Winston Churchill

Strategy

45 Players purchased in 4 years.

£352 million spent to acquire those 45 players.

Forgive me, I have positioned these numbers at the top because I want you to stop reading and go back to these stats whenever you may start to get furious with what I am writing, then if you still disagree with me feel free to let me know, I’m sure you might.

When FSG took control of Liverpool FC we were in a pickle off the pitch. No question that in their time here FSG have not only stopped the rot but begun to drag the club out of the 1980s and into the world we all live in every day. Debt is down. Wage bills are down. Revenue is up. Commercial investment is up. Ground expansion is beginning. The half time sausage rolls are better. It’s all good; I’m not saying it isn’t. Anything that makes my beloved Liverpool FC enhanced gets a nod of approval from me.

Where FSG and I fallout with each other is the prolonged and continued disaster in the transfer market and transfer windows, which, in my unassuming opinion, titles and league positions are decided.

FSG have a dream, the dream is that Liverpool should procure the brightest young talent from around the globe and coach them to become the new Cristiano Ronaldo’s, Gareth Bales, Matts Hummels’ or fill in the blank as to who you identify as a player with pedigree that makes a difference on a football pitch. If we coach these bright young talents into superstars and they get snapped up by the Madrid’s, Barcelona’s and Munich’s of the world then we trade them on for huge profit, pluck the next bright young thing, repeat the process.

Sounds great from a high-level like that, so great you wonder why other clubs don’t obsess about it and follow the same blueprint for success…

Reality

I feel at this point if you haven’t already scrolled back up to the top I should repeat here.

Of those 45 signed players how many have become superstars, world beaters, or sold for £millions of profit? Being generous I can think of 2. Suarez and Sturridge. Both a snip, both able to change a game on a regular basis and the former being flogged at a healthy profit. People may come up with further names than me, players they feel are worthy signings, but ask yourself who really wins games for Liverpool match after match that we have procured in the last 4 years like the names I have specified or in the terms of FSG’s “Transfer Strategy”.

If you can find 2 more it’s pretty slim pickings out of 45 players right? That would make a transfer success rate of 8.8%, or another way of looking at it a 91.2% failure rate. Maybe somebody within the transfer committee or board of Directors should look at that and assess those results.

Looking at things from a great height taking our overall spends against the number of players signed it works out to be an average of £7.8 million outlay per player during FSGs tenure. That falls quite neatly into the cost of the following players who were all purchased for around that figure: Sebastian Coates, Charlie Adam, Iago Aspas, Tiago Ilori, Luis Alberto, Jose Enrique, Fabio Borini, Emre Can – there are more, but you get the picture. No standout players there, no match winners, no huge profit to be made.

Taking this summer alone, £117 million spent on 10 players, that’s an average of £11.7 million per player. Any of this summer’s recruits bucking the trend from the above? Not so far.

Change

We were led to believe that we couldn’t attract the top players because we had no Champions League to offer. This summer we did. So how come the transfer strategy didn’t change? Who would have rather Liverpool spent £117 million on 3 or 4 world beaters than on 10 with potential? Look down the road at Old Trafford and see what pushing the boat out on top draw players does for a team.

This beautiful strategy isn’t, hasn’t, and won’t work. Some will blame Rodgers for wasting money, others Dalglish before him, I’m sure the next manager would get the same bashing. The common denominator here is the owners and there preconceived ideas of what players we should be buying. Make no mistake, Rodgers has a remit, a strategy to follow in transfers and wage structure and it’s failing.

Chelsea pay big wages, Man City, Man Utd, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich all follow suit, and guess what, they win things as a result. They qualify for the Champions League year after year, and guess what, that Champions League money is used to offset the big wages, most still make a profit too (success and profit tend to go hand in hand in the business world).

So this January I am not expecting anything different. The result of which will no doubt leave us once more outside of the top four come May. Then we will be back to the story of no Champions League to attract the top players.

This summer Liverpool had a chance to look at the beautiful strategy, and the results, and to change the path, to grow the club on the field like they have off it. They refused, the chance has gone.

Jordan Henderson, who will take over the Liverpool captaincy from Steven Gerrard in the summer, has been in discussions over an extension to his existing contract, which is due to expire in the summer of 2016.

LEICESTER, ENGLAND - Tuesday, December 2, 2014: Liverpool's Jordan Henderson celebrates scoring the third goal against Leicester City during the Premier League match at Filbert Way. (Pic by David Rawcliffe/Propaganda)

It is understood the implications of his new, higher-profile role with more responsibility will not complicate those talks and an improved deal is likely to be signed in the next month.

There is a similar timeframe in place for Raheem Sterling to put pen to paper on a vastly-enhanced contract to reflect his growing significance to the side.

In terms of the club’s activity in the January window, Brendan Rodgers has already said there will be little if no business done.

Reports have suggested the club have revived their interest in Bayern Munich winger Xherdan Shaquiri but it is understood he is not a realistic target in the current window and neither is West Brom’s Saido Berahino.

meanwhile, Press Association Sport understands a deal to take Gerrard to Major League Soccer at the end of this season is now close to completion. However, contrary to reports Gerrard has not been given leave to travel to the United States to finalise the move and has not flown to America as all the necessary requirements associated with the deal have been done in this country. Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard‘s move to LA Galaxy looks set to be confirmed on Wednesday. Press Association Sport understands a deal to take the 34-year-old to the Major League Soccer at the end of this season is now close to completion.

KINGSTON-UPON-THAMES, ENGLAND - Monday, January 5, 2015: Liverpool's captain Steven Gerrard in action against AFC Wimbledon during the FA Cup 3rd Round match at the Kingsmeadow Stadium. (Pic by David Rawcliffe/Propaganda)

However, contrary to reports Gerrard has not been given leave to travel to the United States to finalise the move and has not flown to America as all the necessary requirements associated with the deal have been done in this country.

Gerrard admits had the club offered him a new contract last summer he would not be bringing an end to his long association with the Reds. However, the midfielder insists he does not want to “point the finger” at anyone for his impending departure.

A contract offer was not made to Gerrard, who turns 35 in May, until November – by which time he had already been told by Brendan Rodgers his playing time would be managed.

Such a tactic had already seen him left on the bench for Liverpool’s Champions League match against Real Madrid in the Bernabeu and that, combined with the delay in offering him an extension, resulted in the player coming to a decision about his future.

“If a contract had been put in front of me in pre-season I would have signed it,” he told the Liverpool Echo. “I’d just retired from England to concentrate all my efforts on Liverpool. I didn’t want my club games to be tailored.

“My injury record had been fantastic for the past two and a half years and I had a great season from a personal point of view last season.

“It’s all ifs, buts and hindsight now. That period between the summer and the end of November gave me thinking time.

“There’s no blame and I’m not angry about it. There are other people in the squad and the club had other things to worry about. There is no finger pointing from me towards the manager or anyone else at the club.”

Gerrard admits he is keen on a management job in the future but stressed even if Liverpool had made him the offer of a coaching position with his new contract he would not have accepted it.

“It wouldn’t have made any difference. I’m not ready for that yet. I’ve just got my C Licence and I’m about to start my UEFA B Licence at the end of January,” he added. “You can’t just roll into something. I only want to become a coach, an assistant or a manager if I am good enough and believe I can help and do well.

“I want to get my qualifications over the next couple of years while I’m away and try to learn the coaching side of it.

“Then I’ll decide whether I want to be a coach or stay involved in the game when I stop playing. Management is a possibility for the future. It’s a dream and aspiration of mine.

“Hopefully after I finish playing I’ll be in a position to serve Liverpool again.

“But I don’t want to manage Liverpool or any other club because I’ve been a good player or because I’m Steven Gerrard.

“You have to get a certain level of experience over a period of time. If I feel I can do well at it then I’ll go down that route.”

Steven Gerrard will reportedly fly out to Los Angeles today to finalise his 18-month deal with LA Galaxy, and it puts question marks over whether the skipper will be back in time to face Sunderland on Saturday lunchtime.

The Mirror reports that Gerrard will fly out to America today, which makes sense given the fact he was seen at Martin Skrtel’s 30th birthday celebrations on Tuesday evening. On the flip side, if he is spotted in England at some point today or Thursday, the reports will be erroneous.

Given the fact the 34-year-old’s flight will take around 11 hours to and from Los Angeles, and if the reports are to be believed, the chances of him returning in time for the trip to the Stadium of Light look extremely slim.

Brendan Rodgers and his squad will travel to the north-east on Friday, and even if Gerrard has flown back on Thursday, which would be pretty full on given the distance, he would not be in prime condition for such an important Premier League away game.

Rodgers will have to look at switching his side around somewhat because of this. The likely thing to do would be to bring Alberto Moreno back into the team at left wing-back, with Lazar Markovic occupying Gerrard’s ‘number 10′ role behind the returning, and hopefully refreshed, Raheem Sterling.

Sterling could equally start behind the striker, with Mario Balotelli given a chance in place of Rickie Lambert, after a relatively promising cameo against AFC Wimbledon on Monday evening. It would be a risk though, given the Italian’s unpredictability.

Rodgers often seems desperate to include Gerrard one way or another, which has backfired a few times this season, and selecting him for Saturday’s game, given the captain’s rumoured travels between now and then, would be madness.

Spanish midfielder Suso’s free transfer move to AC Milan this summer has been confirmed by his agent.

Reports on Monday from Italy claimed a four-year-deal had been agreed for the player, whose contract expires at Anfield this summer. Those have now been confirmed by his agent.

“Yes, I can confirm that there is an agreement between Milan and Suso on a four-year contract,” his agent Jaime Serra told The Liverpool Echo.

“There’s a possibility (he will arrive in January). We’ll just have to see what happens between now and the end of the transfer window.”

The 21-year-old, who Liverpool signed as a youngster from Cadiz in 2010, has been sidelined for the last three months with an injury, having scored on his last appearance (his first competitive goal for the club) in the League Cup match against Middlesbrough.

Suso has made 21 appearances for the club so far, the majority of which arrived in the early months of Brendan Rodgers‘ first season at the club. He spent last season on loan to La Liga side Almeria.

New Football Valuation Ranking

Sterling adalah ke 7 termahal.

Suarez ,Neymar serta falcao semua drop value.

Padanla dengan gaji.

Valuasi adalah utk January window berdasarkan contribution, market demand

dan performance serta availability to releases. Ronaldo lagi murah daripada Messi sebab Real Madrid lebih berpotensi utk hear the offer berbanding Barca. Paul pogba 2 juta lagi mahal daripada bidaan 70 juta Man Utd. Dalam erti kata lain...yg merah tu not for sale...!

Steven Gerrard has revealed that he would have signed a new deal at Liverpool had the club offered him one last summer, rather than waiting until November – by which points he had only 8 months remaining on his contract.

KINGSTON-UPON-THAMES, ENGLAND - Monday, January 5, 2015: Liverpool's captain Steven Gerrard in action against AFC Wimbledon during the FA Cup 3rd Round match at the Kingsmeadow Stadium. (Pic by David Rawcliffe/Propaganda)

The details are revealed in an exclusive interview Gerrard has given to The Liverpool Echo newspaper. He explains: “Yes, if a contract had been put in front of me in pre-season I would have signed it.”

He, again, details a conversation with Brendan Rodgers about managing his playing time – which occurred around the same time Liverpool finally offered him an extension. By then, he says, he had been given “thinking time” and realised he did not wish to become squad player.

“It’s all ifs, buts and hindsight now,” he says. “That period between the summer and the end of November gave me thinking time.

“There’s no blame and I’m not angry about it. There are other people in the squad and the club had other things to worry about.

“Liverpool Football Club have been unbelievable for me since I was eight years old. This club has helped me fulfil my dreams over and over again.”

While some may suggest that Liverpool shouldn’t be allowing Gerrard to leave, it seems the decision has been Gerrard’s to leave: “I didn’t want to become a bit-part player,” he says. “Coming off the bench here and there.”

Of course, had Liverpool given Gerrard a new contract last summer, he would have signed it and perhaps then it becomes no issue.

Gerrard discusses the new challenge he will now embark on in America, expected to be Los Angeles, with his family: “It will be nice to try something different – a new country, a new culture. To take the kids away so they can experience something new.

“It will be nice to be able to walk out the door without being recognised.”

Yes, Liverpool should have offered Gerrard an extension last summer, but the decision now has been Gerrard’s to leave as he wants to be playing 90 minutes every week, something Liverpool cannot offer him at 35 years old – when his contract expires.
