With Daniel Sturridge looking at a place on the bench at the very best against Norwich City on Sunday following his injury, Jack Lusby believes the pressure will be on Luis Suarez to deliver the goals.
Following last Sunday’s triumphant victory over Manchester City, Liverpool stand at the head of the Premier League table, two points clear of their nearest rivals Chelsea with four games to play.
With this knowledge, it is now abundantly clear that the Reds need only gain 10 points to secure the Premier League title, given that one of the upcoming four games is against Chelsea at Anfield.
The first of this run is against Norwich City, at Carrow Road on Sunday, and historically – in recent years, at least – this fixture is one of the club’s easiest on paper; therefore, if Liverpool are to be allowed one draw out of the next four games, this should be regarded as a must-win, with Crystal Palace away and the Chelsea game much more imposing encounters.
Naturally, to err on the side of sensibility, all of the club’s next four Premier League games should be considered must-wins; but for Liverpool to win the league, winning this one will likely prove imperative.
With that pressure comes the unfortunate injury of Daniel Sturridge, and in the absence of the 20-goal striker, Liverpool’s Luis Suarez will be required to step up to the plate.
The pair can’t be said to be in their best form of late, although even in a slump in form they are amongst the league’s best. Luckily, there is no better fixture for the Uruguayan, if the past few years are anything to go by.
Sturridge Injury
Inflicted after half-time in Sunday’s win, Sturridge limped off around the 66th minute, and it has since developed that the striker has complained of tightness in his hamstring; naturally, on this news, the Liverpool faithful groaned.
Currently facing an indeterminate lay-off, the injury isn’t considered hugely serious, as The Independent quote Brendan Rodgers as saying:
“It’s not too serious and won’t keep him out for too many weeks, but he may be out for the weekend…At this moment in time we’re just assessing him and seeing how he goes because he does recover very quickly…It’s certainly not as serious as what sometimes a hamstring injury can be.”
Furthermore, the England international took to Twitter to express his frustration at his latest lay off:
Nevertheless, everyone in the Anfield camp remains positive.
It is likely that Sturridge will be rested against Norwich, and this is the preferable option, given the following Sunday’s title-race six-pointer against Chelsea will require all available players at optimum fitness for a full chance of success.
Previous Lay-off
This isn’t the first time Liverpool have had to cope without Sturridge this season – knowledge of this fact makes his goal haul even more impressive – and therefore an optimistic precedent has been set.
Missing a stretch of eight games from the beginning of December, Sturridge’s winter injury happily coincided with a peak in the form and goal-scoring of Suarez; those left fretting after the hour mark last Sunday can rest at ease.
As per Squawka, in those eight games Suarez managed 11 goals. Elsewhere, the Uruguayan created 25 chances – more than any other Liverpool player during that period – and made four assists.
Therefore, those who feel Liverpool will miss the goals of Sturridge can have confidence that Suarez has stepped up in his absence in the past; as Rodgers recently identified the pair as superb “soloists”, it is clear that they don’t have to work in tandem to achieve their best.
Furthermore, as this fixture is Norwich away, fortunately Suarez has enjoyed huge success at Carrow Road in the past, including that the particular stretch of Sturridge’s absence earlier this season.
Suarez vs. Norwich
Against Norwich, Suarez has always been at his very best.
In his four games against the Canaries, the striker has scored 11 goals and made two assists, and these include some breath-taking performances, as Suarez has made his name as the scourge of Norwich.
Three of these games have included hat-tricks, and each have included goals of remarkable quality.
Completing his first hat-trick with a goal from near the halfway line, Suarez truly announced himself onto this Premier League stage by astutely lobbing a sprawling John Ruddy to give Liverpool a 3-0 victory at the end of the 2011/12 season.
In this 5-2 victory, at Carrow Road at the start of the 2012/13 season, Suarez’s second stands out as the Uruguayan shows the tenacity and skill that typifies his game as he dispossessed and proceeded to bamboozle a dismal Michael Turner and fire another past Ruddy.
Finally, if tacticians would have thought Norwich defenders perhaps may have wised up to Suarez’s movement and guile by now, his latest goal-haul of four in December of last year shows the Uruguayan’s true dominance of the Canaries – all four goals are of sheer quality.
Whether it’s the Norfolk air or its hard water – or Carrow Road’s tepid atmosphere – Norwich is our star striker’s playground.
Pressure
For any other player, the pressure of outplaying a team under title-challenge expectations may prove too much, but Luis Suarez should thrive given the circumstances.
His past performances against Norwich City are far and above encouraging, and the Uruguayan truly does seem to save his best for the unfortunate East Anglian club, but Liverpool must not get complacent at this juncture.
With Suarez aided by the likes of Raheem Sterling, Steven Gerrard, Philippe Coutinho, and even perhaps Victor Moses or Iago Aspas, Liverpool should get by, but as ever they’ll need a real performance.
Do you think that Suarez will step up once again against Norwich? Or will Liverpool struggle with Sturridge? Let us know in the comments below.

"Mengejutkan.

Liverpool’s principal owner John W. Henry has spoke of the excitement over the plans for an expanded Anfield stadium, with drawings set to be released next week.
Speaking on BBC One’s Football Focus, Henry said:
“We’ll be releasing some drawings in the next few weeks. We’re excited about what we’ve seen and the design that we have.
“We’re committed to doing what it takes to get Anfield to where it needs to be over the next 20, 30, 40, 50 years.
“If you’re moving from 45,000 seats to 60,000 seats you’ve got to rebuild the first 45,000 seats, so it’s incredibly expensive.
“It’s challenging but it’s also rewarding and we’ll get it done.”
Speaking of the club’s season, Henry admitted that the title challenge and form of Brendan Rodgers‘ side has been ahead of the planned schedule:
“We had our sights set on a top-four finish because we’re building.
“It’s a challenge with the way the league is structured, so if we were fortunate enough to win this year, I would say we’re ahead of schedule.”

Two icons of Liverpool, Luis Suarez and Sir Paul McCartney, recorded this interview prior to the former Beatles first ever gig in Uruguay on Saturday evening.
McCartney will play to over 50,000 people at the Centenario Stadium in Montevideo, and ahead of the concert spoke to Liverpool forward Suarez about cultural relations.
With Uruguay set to play England at this summer’s World Cup in Brazil, Suarez asks McCartney whether he will be going and who is favourite player is.
McCartney replies, “You know what, I will not be going to the World Cup. I was invited but I can’t go. But I will be watching on the television like millions of other people. My favourite player is…me!”
Suarez, who has scored 29 goals for Liverpool this season with four games to go, then cheekily asks McCartney whether he will support Uruguay if England are eliminated early in the competition.
McCartney replied, “That’s a difficult question because because England are not going to be defeated by Uruguay. I’m sorry, England are going to win the World Cup. You know that, I know that, we all know that. But please dedicate a goal to me anyway!”
McCartney concludes the interview by chanting, “Liverpool, Liverpool… Everton!”
Suarez is action for the Reds this Sunday, 20 April as they take on Norwich City at Carrow Road. The game is live on Sky Sports 1 and gets underway at 12noon.
Title rivals Chelsea are at home to Sunderland on Saturday evening. Kick-off is 5.30pm and also live on Sky Sports 1.

Naik turun masih setia bersama... TQ for everything Mr.Gerrard Makeusdream Mi...
American Liverpool fan Michael Niday explains his recent “education” about the club, and what the Liverpool way means to him.
In my time as a Liverpool supporter, my education – as I think it is appropriately called – has come in fits and starts.
The year I first really paid any attention to the club was a direct result of the international popularity of Fernando Torres and Steven Gerrard.
I knew about the big four teams, and I knew that Liverpool were counted among them. My reason for starting to follow the team was almost strictly tied to the two aforementioned stars. That, and my early dislike of Manchester United and Chelsea. (Well-educated in that regard!)
So, naturally, I knew nothing of that legendary night in Istanbul or the world-beating sides of Liverpool’s past. I knew nothing of King Kenny or Bill Shankly. And I certainly was oblivious to the darker parts of the club’s history.
Over time, I was exposed to the glories of Jerzy Dudek’s double save, the 18 league titles, and the bragging rights that come with winning five European Cups.
Over time, I also learned that along with the highest of highs, there were deep lows.
Chief among them was one of the darkest days in sports history at a match 25 years ago this month. Despite everything I learned, and even as time wore on, I seemed to always shield myself from the devastatingly sad details that unfolded on the 15th of April 1989.
A few weeks ago, I had the privilege to make my first trip across the Atlantic to stay a week in London with my girlfriend.
She, too, is a Liverpool supporter, and we made arrangements to spend the last day of our vacation in Liverpool.
After years of rising early on weekends to see the team play, I was absolutely beside myself with joy as I stepped off the train at Liverpool Lime Street.
Not only were we going to see the city and meet some of the lovely locals, but we had managed to snag two tickets for the match against Spurs. Two tickets in the heart of the Kop.
Every man and woman that I met during those brief 24 hours in Liverpool left an impression on me. As this past week has been a time of commemoration for the 25th anniversary of the Hillsborough disaster, and with the wonderful people I met in mind, I tuned into a documentary Hillsborough.
For several years, I have tried to learn every aspect of this sport, but I realised that I know nothing. For the entirety of this film, I sat transfixed.
Watching as families discussed their incomprehensible losses and the years that have passed, I remembered my brief time at Anfield.
In my head, I recounted our walk from the Sandon through cramped turnstiles and navigating to our seats. I thought of the person who stood right next to me for that experience – a person who I love deeply and have an obligation to protect in the event of some unforeseeable catastrophe.
I imagined the fear of chaos and having control over a situation seized from my hands. Of course, on that particular day we were fine. There was no need for protection, nor should there ever be in that or any other stadium.
It is unjust that a person would ever go to a match and not return. It is injustice that the horrific deaths of 96 husbands, brothers, and girlfriends would precede two and a half decades of tortuous inquests and loved ones clawing for simple truth.
And here I have come to this writing by way of that documentary, finding it difficult to comprehend the struggles that those families and that city have been through. Yet, for all that they have been through, the club moves on as one.
It seems artificial to quote a lyric in a place where raw emotion is better suited, but I think back to the times when You’ll Never Walk Alone has produced such change in the feeling of a moment.
It was present at a Champions League final when the team was down 3-0 at half-time, and it was present this past Sunday as it reverberated throughout Merseyside prior to the match.
So maybe it’s not at all artificial to say that “At the end of the storm, there’s a golden sky.” Maybe with every line and with every song a grieving club takes a step towards normalcy and justice.
But Liverpool Football Club didn’t dominate England without finding fans in opposite corners of the country. Liverpool didn’t conquer Europe five times without the boost from Reds across the continent. And Liverpool hasn’t sought justice alone, but rather with the support of sympathisers around the world.
I wanted to write this in homage to those who lost their lives and those who have struggled on in the wake of that disaster.
Although I feel that I still have plenty left to learn where football is concerned, I do understand the importance of unity that the club is currently experiencing.
Though I may be viewing from afar, my day in Liverpool made me feel as Red as those I met. And the events of the past few weeks have made me steadfastly believe that you and I will not walk alone.

- target man striker -
Pemain lain sering bermain flanker
bellamy - lebih kepada shooter
maxi rodriguez - bukan crosser
Apapun mereka tetap the Reds...
