Luis Suarez‘s future looks set to dominate the transfer window for a second summer running, with fresh reports emerging over the weekend regarding interest from Real Madrid and Barcelona.

Monday morning saw The Liverpool Echo report that Liverpool were unaware of supposed interest from the Spanish clubs, saying that “neither Suarez nor his representatives have given Liverpool any indication that he wants to quit Anfield” and “Liverpool believe they have done everything they possibly could to satisfy the prolific striker.”

That has been followed up by two more reports; one suggesting Liverpool are “confident” of Suarez remaining at Anfield; and another claiming Suarez wants to play for Barcelona.

The latter of those reports, the more worrying one for Liverpool fans, comes via Spanish football correspondent Guillem Balague. Barcelona “are trying to do all they can to get Suarez” he writes for Bleacher Report.

He writes of Suarez’s affection for Barcelona as a city, and similarly for his wife. Balague claims: “As well as a very important family decision, Suarez wants to be part of the rebuilding process taking place in Barcelona.”

Balague also suggests that Barcelona may offer Alex Sanchez, the Chilean forward who Liverpool have held talks over, and fellow forward Pedro in exchange to get the deal done.

Meanwhile, ESPNFC report how “Liverpool are not resigned to losing Suarez, who told manager Brendan Rodgers at the end of last season that he was committed to the club.”

Similar to The Liverpool Echo report, ESPNFC say Liverpool are though expecting bids for their 31-goal striker.

They claim that Suarez’s contract does include a release clause, the details of which are unknown.

Jordan Henderson; Liverpool vows to learn from England's World Cup heartbreak.

Jordan Henderson; Liverpool vows to learn from England's World Cup heartbreak.

Jordan Henderson believes England’s young players have learned important lessons from their early World Cup exit which will make the team stronger in the future.

Despite some good moments, defeats against Italy and Uruguay left Roy Hodgson’s men facing their first group-stage exit since 1958.

Henderson admitted the feeling within the camp is one of disappointment at having let the England fans down but is confident the overall experience will stand the younger players in good stead.

"I'm sure everyone at home is feeling down," Henderson said.

"We feel as though we have let a lot of people down, but at the same time we have shown people how well we can play in a big tournament with young players coming through.

"We went out and played with no fear. We have a promising young side, hopefully we can gel together and in the future have many more happy memories.

"It doesn't really get much bigger than playing in the World Cup. It's been an unbelievable experience, but no matter whether we've had highs or lows, you have to learn from it as best you can.

"I'm sure the young lads here will learn from that and it will make them stronger and better as well."

Henderson acknowledged the mood in the camp was downbeat following their exit but paid tribute to England’s team spirit overall.

"Everyone is disappointed," he said. "We're really down because we are going home far too early.

"There was a lot of confidence going into the tournament, everyone has been getting on great and the team spirit has been brilliant.

"Team spirit is about people being together, not only when it's going well but also when things don't go so well and you need each other.

"It's not a great mood [around the camp] but it's a time everyone needs to stick together, everyone needs to stay strong.

"I'm sure there will be days when you'll wake up and it'll come back into your head, but at the same time, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger and you have to keep going."

Henderson may not start the final group game against Costa Rica as Hodgson is set to shuffle his team with Frank Lampard in line to captain the side at the Mineirao Stadium.

Los Ticos, the tournament’s surprise package, are planning to rest players having already secured qualification for the last 16.

Despite that, the Liverpool midfielder stressed that England will enter the game determined to win and finish the tournament on a high.

"We'll be approaching the game the same as we have the other two and that's to go out and win the game," Henderson said.

"We'll not prepare any differently because we are out of the competition, we'll go out and finish on a high and get a win. We don't want to go home losing all three games.

"We want to show people how much we do really care and for everyone back home, give them some enjoyment in the final game. Give them something to shout about and put on a good performance."

Steven Gerrard: England captain looking ahead to 2016

Steven Gerrard: England captain looking ahead to 2016

Steven Gerrard says England’s humbling experience at the World Cup will help them mount a strong challenge at Euro 2016.

England take on Costa Rica in Belo Horizonte on Tuesday in the final match of their Group D campaign and will then fly home after a hugely disappointing tournament.

But despite the sorry showing in South America, skipper Gerrard believes the 17 England players in Brazil who had never been to a World Cup before will be stronger for the experience.

"The World Cup is a level where you don't forget your experiences in two weeks, four weeks, a couple of months - they live with you for a long time," said the England captain, who will start on the bench in Belo Horizonte.

"But you have to accept that and try and move forward so that if you're picked for another tournament, your experiences are better.

"I do think the youngsters here have that character. I've said how talented they are. They do the right things in and around training, and they want to stay at this level for a long time.

"It will be better in two years because of the standard of players we have here."

England’s players and management have come in for a barrage of criticism following defeats to Italy and Uruguay – although the likes of Paul Scholes had pointed out what they believe to be deficiencies even before the tournament began.

Gerrard admits that criticism has had an impact.

"In this position as captain you have to accept there are opinions out there," he said.

"I am not sitting here telling everyone they have to stop. Everyone is entitled to their opinion.

"But sometimes it is frustrating when you are sat here and there is someone who you have played with and they have been in your position, they have suffered with you and they know what it's like to be down - and they pile a bit more misery on you."
